First, high unemployment keeps wages down. Workers who are worried about losing their jobs settle for whatever they can get — which is why hourly earnings keep dropping. The median wage is now 4 percent lower than it was at the start of the recovery. Low wages help boost corporate profits, thereby keeping the regressives’ corporate sponsors happy.

Second, high unemployment fuels the bull market on Wall Street. That’s because the Fed is committed to buying long-term bonds as long as unemployment remains high. This keeps bond yields low and pushes investors into equities — which helps boosts executive pay and Wall Street commissions, thereby keeping regressives’ financial sponsors happy.

Third, high unemployment keeps most Americans economically fearful and financially insecure. This sets them up to believe regressive lies — that their biggest worry should be that “big government" will tax away the little they have and give it to “undeserving" minorities; that they should support low taxes on corporations and wealthy “job creators;" and that new immigrants threaten their jobs.

Hm, you should really say why Obama wants jobs to stay anemic, since his Fed chairman is causing everything mentioned there.

Fed doesn't work for the Exec. the Fed was created by and is operated by the banks.

Bad news is that most of those reasons also apply to the democrats, and even more... Poor economic condition forces kids to drop out of school early (my Jacob ) so the population's brain level will decrease through time and people will be easier to be deceived by Obama's fallacious doctrine, and the democrats' supporting rate will increase as a result.

And my bet is that Barry will totally lose his activist supporters, and lots of other Dems and indepenents, and suck up to the 1% and Wall St, with an eye on his post-term jobs, fees, board memberships, with the long-term disaster of appointing Summers to the Fed.

You speak as if that isn't what he's been doing all along... As far as I can tell the .001%'s have done just fine under Obama.

true, but the financial sector is totally divorced by the Real Economy, financed by the Fed and Treasury, and it did give 10x more to Bishop Gecko than their favorite terrorist socialist fist bumping Kenyan Muslem n!gg@. I don't see what specific personal Barry policies made them richer.

However, Summers at the Fed would be a huge gift to the financial sector.

It took me a few tries, but I figured out what you said there; fair enough.

    however...

Doing nothing (or very little) in this case, IMO was gift enough.

    We agree on this.

Barry and Dems have been blindly OBSTRUCTED since 21 Jan 2009, and where obstruction didn't work, defunding did.

The ugly ACA sausge is full of , and absent a public insurance option just so it got made. Since then, the Repugs have been obstructing, defunding, ing it up, like they did with CFPB and all financial regs, etc, etc.

With full control (for 2 years) AND the 1% movement, I call bull on this obstructionism argument. If he wanted it, he could have had it...never made it a priority. He spent his capital on BAD healthcare legislation.

    which progressives did that?

West TX was an avoidable, man-made disaster hitting a tiny rural town, not a massive natural disaster. FEMA is now making an exception and sending more $Ms to West TX.

    Who was dancing?

pointing out the causes, the lackadaisical "safety" culture (ie, Wild West cowboys), the lack of govt enforcement, inspections, etc, etc is not dancing on the graves, GFY.

btw, TX Repugs have done all to remedy the situation that permitted West to happen.
