Hard to Say. The lakers were on a Roll the last 40 games of the season posting a 28-12 record. The Spurs packed the paint with Pau and Dwight, they would've been raped if they gave Kobe open jumpers to pack the paint.

i would say it's the best rivalry of the last decade. Back when the west was truly the wild wild west. Back then at the height of the rivalry, nobody gave a about the east. Everyone knew the only 2 teams that were gonna win the chip were the lakers or spurs, so whenever they faced in the playoffs, it was the true finals. I miss those days. There was bad blood between lakers and spurs that is still around to this day

I pity Lakerfan. Rooting their hearts out for the Spurs to stop the kang and then coattailing the very same player who will surpass Kobe fairly easy.

It is a rivalry tbh, you cannot deny that they are the only team aside from Celtics that can legitimately claim to have denied us a championship when we were due (maybe the Pistons as well).

It's been a great rivalry, my only question I've always wondered is how the Spurs plan on being relevant once TD, TP, and Manu retire. Are they a legit team that will come back or were they one of those once in a generation teams like the Hakeem Rockets that will fade into oblivion for 15-20 years? I am not sure honestly.

When you think about it like this for a second

Shaq-Kobe Lakers - 3-2 vs. Tim Duncan Spurs
Kobe-Pau Lakers - 1-1 versus Tim Duncan Spurs

...it doesn't look like ownage by Kobe at all, and I know Lakerfan is gonna chime in about Achilles being out but it's not like Ginobili wasn't hobbled as in the 2008 WCF

I agree with everything you said...except for the Pistons bit. They were just flat-out the better team for that short period of time.
