Has anyone (with S4) noticed that the "navigation" on the phone is absolute trash?? Its always crashing and engaging in other generally ty interface issues.

How are you tech savvy guys dealing with this issue?

Without and real specifics to go on, I'd recommend a couple of tweaking apps I use. GPS Test is a nice utility to clear and reset the AGPS data. Faster Fix also optimizes response times, but I think it requires root.

Every Samsung I've owned has had pretty flaky GPS sensors. My Note works great tho.

My S4 GPS has been pretty quick, locks on to any position within a few seconds. I've had problems with the occasional ROM, though.
