^ What can he say? He got turned upside down, claiming I was a LeBron rider, refusing to defend his own fandom--nor his idol-- and he parroted the same way they accuse Thread of parroting.

But he has had Tony Parker do the alpha work for past 7 years. And he still can't gain any ground on the 5-4 stick, Kobe on top.

Tony Parker playing like along with Manu in Game 6 cost Spurs the le. TP didn't even have enough energy to play the deciding Final minutes of Games 6 and 7, Pop had to bench him and trust Manu with the championship in his hands. Manu missed the FT in Game 6, Manu turned the ball over 8 times. All Timmy did was miss a layup that would have not even decided the game because Spurs lost by 7.

Here's Kobe, the 5-time NBA World Champion doing his thing:

    and

Most players have their 2 most iconic shots each from different games. For Timmy, he had both in the matter of a second

    The result of each shot?

    and

    and

    Which outcome stands out?

But he has had Tony Parker do the alpha work for past 7 years. And he still can't gain any ground on the 5-4 stick, Kobe on top.
Tony Parker the last 7 years:

    18.8 pts .505% 3 reb 6.5 ast .9 stl 2.5 TO 1 finals mvp 0 MVP

    Shaq's 8 years with kobe

    27 pts .575% 11.8 reb 3.1 ast 2.5 blk 2.8 to 3 finals mvp 1 mvp

great comparison, once you look past the 11 inches and 145 pounds difference in size the similarity is uncanny!

also, hilarious that the OP pics that define kobe's greatness are from a PO loss and a RS game. You forgot the the block on lebron in the AS game for the trifecta of irrelevance.

In all honesty, each of them will have the following legacies (to people who don't know the game):

Tim: Who? That quiet guy in San Antonio who was supposedly one of the best players of all time.

Kobe: That guy who raped that girl in Colorado but paid her off so she would drop the case (true or not)

To those who know the game:

Tim: Greatest Power Forward who ever played the game. Great teammate, great person. Unselfish. Nerdy. Thinker, gets inside opponents heads and gets an advantage, especially against mentally weak big men like Howard and KG. Sole reason the Spurs are the greatest franchise in all of sports (success related) since Tim has been in the league. His game has been ridiculously consistent over his tenure. Even Spurs fans expect the wheels to fall off only to learn he's getting better. Might, however, get tagged as having sand bagged a few years of his career (unfairly) since he's shown the ability to come in at a lower weight and be much more effective when needed at an older stage of his life (generally opposite of most bigs). His divorce and all the gay talk won't even be considered because it's not cost him anything. He made the Finals with a legit shot at winning in the twilight of his career even while going through a divorce. Never had overwhelming odds in his favor. Never threatened to quit (to the media) if he didn't get what he wanted.

Kobe: Assassin on the court, mentally enclosed and selfish to a flaw. Not liked by most of his teammates or coaches. Has an unyielding will to win but only if it makes him look better. Patterned his game after Michael Jordan, maybe a better outside shooter than Michael but many people were. Has high hopes that often get dashed because of his tendency to play hero ball instead of team basketball. Thrives under the triangle offense but was the reason Phil Jackson retired both times. Could have 7 or 8 rings if he hadn't run Shaq out of town, and got his second chance under Pau but couldn't keep his team together even though he's self proclaimed as the "compass" in his "Kobe Doin' Work" e Lee Joint production that got 6.5 out of 10 on IMDB.com. Has 5 championships. Maybe top 10 all time in terms of successes, but definitely top 5 in terms of controversy. Widely accepted that his rape trial that stemmed from his lack of self control off the court cost the Lakers a championship and eventually broke up maybe the most dominant team in the past 30 years. So although he's got a crown, he's had the sword of Damocles over his head since Shaq left, and a few times it's fallen on him.

One more thing about Kobe and to an extent, Lakers fans: They believe that if Kobe catches Mike in numbers he catches Mike. The rest of the NBA world knows that to not be the case.

I mentioned the crown and sword pertaining to Kobe, but it's not something he earned. It's something that was foisted upon him by a large market fan base who needed their version of MJ so badly that they were willing to anoint the person who wanted that moniker badly enough to abandon their own persona and accept the role of clone candidate.

It's played out like a Greek tragedy in that he's obviously not who he wanted to be and sees now that he probably won't even get the numbers needed to even mount a decent case for his likeness to MJ.

Only time will tell how he handles that.

Truth bomb. They needed a new flag carrier after MJ retired and Kobe was the chosen one. Kobe is a great player and there's never any doubt about that but to say he's the 2nd coming of MJ is too big an eulogy for him imho. Top 10-15 player of all time, arguably the lower half of top 10 but it would be hilarious to put him in the top 5 imho.
