It illustrates the different levels of difficulty the Germany armies faced on the eastern front imho. the Army Group North faced the toughest challenge, due mainly to the extreme conditions of climate in the high-la ude foresty regions. It's not like the Army Group South were cruising but at least they didn't encounter many challenges geologically, mainly vast flatlands which were all easy paths to their mechanized/motorized troops, so they could march all the way through Ukraine, even approaching the Caucasus if they had managed to occupy Stalingrad.
