Hartford Crowd Was Evil, White
I Wanted to Pull a 'Reverse Kramer'
Dave Chappelle is lashing out about the people who heckled him in Hartford, CT last week ... calling the crowd a bunch of "young, white alcoholics" and saying he wanted to pull a "reverse Kramer."
Chappelle took the stage at a show in Chicago last night ... and immediately went off on Hartford -- where he engaged in a nasty stand-off with the crowd after several loudmouthed fans heckled him during his set.
"I don't want anything bad to happen to the United States," Chappelle said ... "but if North Korea ever drops a nuclear bomb on this country, I swear to God I hope it lands in Hartford, Connecticut."
Chappelle then called the crowd "evil" ... and described them as a bunch of "young, white alcoholics."
"I wanted to pull a reverse Kramer and call them all crackers or something crazy like that."
Chappelle was obviously referring to the TMZ footage of Michael Richards during his insane N-bomb tirade at the Laugh Factory back in 2006.

I don't blame him tbh. them right up the asshole. I've heard comedians say the most common and most annoying hecklers are drunk white girls. I can't see the guys being that bad. Drunk white guys tend to be more of the "broing out, find everything funny" type. What could possibly make someone wanna heckle a legend? I would've been stoked just to see him give some stories about his career. I saw Charlie Murphy give a TY standup at UTA in 08 and everyone was excited just to see someone from his show
then do it and quit talking about it after. he knew damn well it would be like that in some places doing a festival.
White comedians don't get heckled. True story.
Great comedians can handle hecklers, except drunk white women don't know when they've been shamed to death so they just get louder.
He used those same jokes at the laugh factory.
So? He hasn't put out a special or album in years, those bits aren't burned yet.
Dave got pissed because guys would yell "I'm Rick James " from that crazy
funny skit from his old TV show.....I loved his old TV show that still plays on Comedy Central...
They harassed him in Chicago also...Dave is acting like a little drama queen.
Those jokes are over 2 years old. Dave needs to sit down somewhere, he looks ridiculous.
Saw Dave in Dallas... he sucked tbh. I'm sure Hartford was full of ty people, but Dave isn't doing himself any favors.
You should see how fast Louis CK puts hecklers away.
Patton Oswalt's another one who will hard on a heckler. The problem, and Oswalt as well as others have talked and written about it considerably of late, is that with the advent of cell phone cams and everything else when a heckler gets taken down a few pegs by a pro (often to massive laughs and applause from the crowd) it can go viral so easily. From there you get dumbasses who see the crowd reaction and think that somehow this whole thing makes the show better or more memorable and show up thinking they have a part to play in making something special happen. Just because some comics are terrific at shutting down a heckler doesn't mean they enjoy doing it, nor do they enjoy trying to soldier on back into their set now that their momentum or rhythm have been knocked off the rails. So I can understand why Dave does what he does. Rather than put on a whole other kind of show for them he gives them absolutely nothing. I don't agree that he has to do it so damn dramatically to get his point across, but I can understand the mind set.
You're keeping the ol joke tracker? What jokes were they?
Dave's problem with hecklers is that he invites them. By that, I mean he engages in conversations with them instead of shutting them down.
i haven't seen dave's act but i can't say im surprised he doesn't have it anymore. he's my dude but his stand up was never on the same level as the greats and even some of the greats lost their spark after while. hopefully he finds his groove and gives us another classic stand up special.
Maybe he's going down the Andy Kaufman path of full contact comedy.
this n!ggar, that got jamie fox, and all you ST coons
Glad I saw him on the first day of the tour tbh
For a couple years Chappelle was at an all time great level imo
well he was out of the limelight for like 8 years now. I doubt he will end up like katt williams, all drugged up and loony now. I guess his dave's routine has changed over the years, or maybe he was just away for so long.
