I never referenced apocrypha. Not once. Again, you are filled with error.
I have already tried the kind approach. I am not required to be nice to mockers and scoffers. Perhaps you should go back and read all the harshness used by God, Jesus, Paul, etc. when appropriate.
I downplay nothing. The scriptures are veiled on purpose. God keeps them that way in many different ways. The latest and greatest is really just what went before. Biased, wicked translators "who take the truth of God and turn it into a lie." It isn't difficult.
You have no more control over being BORN FROM ABOVE (it is not born again) than you did in the first place physically. HE WHO IS BORN OF GOD CANNOT SIN, CANNOT SIN, CANNOT SIN. 1 John 3. That's not a choice you make or a stupid prayer. It is a process. A painful one. Again, you cite tradition not the Word.
The oldest extant text has a monumental number of errors. Oldest is not best. Not by a long shot. The only way to find the text as originally written is to collate and compare with other texts. You can distill and determine which ones added and which ones subtracted (like MS 69 which added a margin note in an attempt to fix an improper importation of Mat 5 into Mat 19). One of the best researchers on this topic is Dr. Leslie McFall. He is the foremost expert on this.
The most accurate, or at least consistent, is the Byzantine Majority Text. The Egyptian texts are older but contain a monumental number of mistakes, internally and externally.
That being said, even an improperly translated English Bible has enough fail safes in it for a spiritual man to find the truth. You can change FORNICATION to MARITAL UNFAITHFULNESS all you want. The contradicting scriptures are enough for the spiritual man to know what it really means. Or change Gal 3:15 to say IRREVOCABLE AGREEMENT instead of COVENANT. It doesn't matter. The other information is still there in enough places to counter it for the spiritual man....and to trap the carnal one.
Bad translations like the NIV and the NLT are allowed by God for the same reason Jesus spoke in parables....

more of your self righteous BS instead of the rightness of God.
