Shaq was pretty damn dominant ... 1 on 1 in his prime he could not be stopped except by flops.
Of course he would perform better without Kobe for stretches because those Laker teams were built around two stars and role players that would thrive on feeding the post and working the offense. But to win a le you need someone to create offense when the better teams limit your primary sets. Kobe was the best at this of Shaq's #2's (or 1B's) since Wade really was the #1 option in Miami's first le ...
LOL weak troll attempt but the Kobe line WAS funny ...
meh, blaming kobe is re ed. the only person who stopped Shaq was himself, with his lack of dedication and laziness.
if he had Kobe's work ethic, and focused on staying in shape and developed his game further (with a few more moves and a midrange J... or heck, if he at least learned to shoot FTs at a 70-80% clip), he would have been unquestionably the greatest player of all time, dwarfing MJ and Kareem.
despite all that, he still is probably the most unstoppable single player to ever play the game. takes a LOT of scheming to limit his effectiveness, probably more than any other player ever.
absolutely. That is why Shaq is not my favorite Laker because he let true Greatness (GOAT) slip by not developing his game further. Malone, Duncan improved their games (Duncan was pretty sound anyway) developing range and improving FT shooting. He made some lame excuses for his FT and let his body breakdown all that weight on those knees it's surprising he lasted as long as he did.
Great player despite all of that but should of been GOAT.
Shaq recently said in Open Court that he hated playing vs Bryant Reeves
