1. You can pitch the SEC to the best recruits. You cant really pitch the Big 12 since youre the 3rd-4th option for most of them in your conference.
2. You would get money from the SEC Network once it gets going.
3. Youre not one of those schools that has a clear path to the le game through the Big 12.
4. The SEC is a better, more stable conference than the present day Big 12.
5. The SEC has a larger national audience. More exposure for Tech and Lubbock.

I wouldn't say it would benefit us for a while if we moved to the SEC, main reason being we would most likely be the stepping mat of the conference for a few years as opposed to the current time being in the Big 12 where we have a chance to actually take the conference if a couple things go our way this season and the next couple years to come.

I wouldn't be opposed to it completely, but I think right now we're happy where we are.

Current USA Today article says thanks to latest big XII payouts, Tech athletics didn't need to use school subsidies for the first time in six or seven years, so I think as long as the budget is in good shape, no need to cave in to ESPN/UT.

A school like Kansas has no problem whoring themselves out though and I don't blame them.

If Tech ever finds themselves in a bad financial spot though, I'll be perturbed if they don't bend over and take a horn for $5 million and instead take subsidies from the school.

I think the game was in 2011 at UT and the only option for ESPN to carry the game was to put it on the horn network. Tech turned down the $5 million offer. The game ended up on FX, iirc.

Have no way to know if Tech wins that decision in the long run, only that they can currently afford to make the decision.

That's was actually a good decision IMO since it made the game more widely available to Tech fans. I'd probably feel differently if the game ended up on Fox College Sports or the like.

Some of those things I listed are actually facts, others are opinions most people that arent re ed would agree with it.The SEC conference made $92 million more in TV, bowl and NCAA tournament revenue. You made more per school because WV and TCU dont get a full share yet. Theyll get a full share eventually and the SEC is getting a network in 2014. Connect the dots.
