I'll be getting this. I actually preferred the Live controls. Much more basic.

Live has always sucked. Even 2k hasn't been the same in a while. NBA2k-2k2 were classics. 2k7 was solid too. Always used to kill my friends with the Heat. Kapono, Posey and Williams from the outside. Wade everywhere else.
2k7? 2k8 was far superior to 2k7 since you could run much better plays, as well as having the play show up on your screen as you run it.

Live was real hit or miss. Live 99 was annoying because you could just shove players on the other team without a foul being called if they didn't have the ball, so you might as well never pass the ball or it's a guaranteed turnover against a human player. Live 2000 was amazing for its time. Spectacular graphics, great control, and an awesome 1-on-1 mode. Then Live 2001 was complete dog . It played really slow and no one could hit the midrange shot. It was nice graphically but the gameplay was awful. LOL 2002 being so ty it never even got put out on PC. 2003 was amazing since it was so fast paced. The Nets were so much fun to play with on that game with Martin and Mutombo as shotblockers to create constant fast breaks with Kidd, Kittles, and Jefferson. Then 2004 sucked; the hop step was way too powerful. Thankfully 05 toned that down for a much better game, and 2006 was an incremental improvement. Never played it after that though.

I think you can adjust the game's speed. 05' is the and I'm still playing it with up-to-date roster, I set the game speed at 20 so the game progresses just as the real game does. I'm a fan of realistic sports games which's why I'm also a fan of football manager games (cm0102 being my all-time favorite), rather than those FIFA and Konami games

hop step was great in 04, sure, but shotblocking was so incredible too so it balanced out imo

You can adjust the game setting to your preference. Like if you think blocks happen too often, you may set both the player's and computer's shotblocking rates at 10 or below. The game runs too fast for me under the default setting, so I manually set it at 20 and the games (at least the stats) look rather realistic. Old version games ain't no match to the later ones in terms of graphic detail levels though.

The part of 05 I like best is its dynasty mode, which was a brand-new system that would continue to be used in every version until at least 09 (08 was the last version of NBA lives I've played, so I don't know if the Dynasty mode are still running on that engine after 08). There's never been any basketball/football managing game that allows you to finish a full season in the means of a jew minutes, except NBA lives from 05 onward.

You can simulate through a full season quite easily on 2k and you can set the amount of regular season games per season and you can even adjust how many games you play per round in the playoffs.

I still play NBA LIVE 05 but I use updated graphics and rosters, trade MJ from the updated 1990's teams to the Bulls and have fun, tbh.

I'll probably end up checking it out if they don't cancel it again. I miss NBA Live, tbh.
    Pathetic, tbh

NBA Live 05 is just as classic a basketball game as the soccer-simulation game that championship 01/02 is, imho. There's a reason why people are still making transfer updates for those games up to this day. I've been playing 05 with rosters updated to August, I downloaded that update from a chinese website so supposedly there're many bugs in it, like whenever Pekovic is loaded (in a game or in player editing), the game crashes. 2k13 and newer games are too large for me to download, I'd never spend extended time downloading anything from the internet, except those Scarlett movies of course.
