You are probably correct. But to think they are never used in self defense is foolish. You protect your family with your baseball bat, I'll protect mine with firearms.
I own 3 Chihuahuas for self defense.
However, I own a shotgun to protect me from the Chihuahuas.

i know it isn't a concern for you or a majority of americans. no one cares about minorities or the poor, which is sad.
i only have a glock 27 right now. i really want to get an assault rifle or maybe another handgun. i really like sig sauer p229. any reccomendations for rifles?

there are good god fearing people who live in those communities who i care about. people who are prisoners of their own neighborhood because of the thugs and the kids who grow up idolizing them and repeat the cycle. you gotta see the big picture here, doggie.
If you want to do it right get an HK MR308.
I've got a Sig p229 equinox that's been flawless, beautiful looking too.
For AR's I'd highly recommend BCM. Don't go cheap on your first one as you'll regret it and spend more money trying to upgrade it. Buy a decent one to start. Palmetto State Armory has some great deals right now too on mil spec rifles.
I definitely feel sorry for them. Especially the old folks who watched their neighborhoods turn to around them.
