PRINCETON, NJ -- As Washington braces for another budget showdown, this time with the threat of defunding the new healthcare law in the mix, the key political force pushing for conservative policies sees diminished popular support. Fewer Americans now describe themselves as supporters of the Tea Party movement than did at the height of the movement in 2010, or even at the start of 2012. Today's 22% support nearly matches the record low found two years ago.

Right back to where they were when they did actually amange to shutdown the government. The tea party is inept at US politics. Ideology will do that to you though.

What's striking is the "neither" vector hovering around 50%. Irrelevancy...it's not just for Ron Paul anymore.

It did peak at 32%. That's more relevance for a political meme than I would like. I don't buy that it's a grass roots organization but the guys funding all of it don't have a clue as to what they are doing.

While I don't always see eye to eye with the US conservative movement, I used to respect it. You went from Buckley, Meese, and Baker to this group of nimwits though.

There's probably a similar metric of teabaggers:cancer. It's pretty much as irrelevant.

Let's try some critical thinking here, Darrin. What is the most notable thing going on in Congress and who has been in the lead for the past 3 years? Think hard on it.

Let's put it another way so you can have an easier way of approaching it: what do you think people have liked least about Congress these past few years?
