Define flop.
It's not looking good for him imho.
I think he'll flop because of the media spotlight he's under and the fact that he doesn't seem to be taking his football career very seriously.
He's a talented QB and fun to watch but he's definitely a part of the problem with many of the youths in my generation. I read somewhere recently that he thinks too much is expected of him compared to his peers (meaning other college QBs, I guess?) but what he doesn't understand is that when you have the season he had last year and win the Heisman as a freshman, not only are kids going to look up to him, but his teammates and coaches are going to expect more of him because he won that award. He has to live up to that. He's basically playing the YOLO card...and getting faced hammered is something everyone does frequently in college so add being a rockstar QB into that equation and yeah, dude's going to be getting ed up a lot.
I just hope he doesn't let his team down because of partying, that's the big thing. Also if he has more incidents, that'll be red flags for NFL teams when they look at drafting him. He's probably headed for the NFL is he can build on his freshman season and you don't want to up your draft stock because you went to one too many 10-keggers at frat parties.
Partying is all well and good until it interferes with or becomes more important than your actual day to day . I know this firsthand and it's a lesson everyone either learns or dies trying in college. Or you can just pull a Cory Monteith in the front nine of your 30s. Just saying.
What people don't understand is that Johnny expects huge things from himself on the field. He's a lot harder on himself than any coach, teammate or media persons are when he plays poorly or loses a game. He won't fail because "he doesn't care". You can make the argument that he isn't preparing himself physically like he should be in the off season months but he will definitely leave it all out there on the field and will give it is all for the team. It doesn't seem like that from the outside, it looks like he's going to be that type of professional athlete who doesn't give a about anything as long as he gets payed, but it isn't like that at all.
What Johnny Football does on the field, is damn impossible to plan for. By the end of the season last year, there was not a team in college football that could stop him. I don't see that changing this year unless he gets injured.
i'm pretty sure maziel was doing the same things last season; we just didn't hear about them. and besides, the offense is too loaded for him to not have success, at least statistically. wins wise, what the defense can or can't do is beyond his control.
Will be interesting to see how some of these SEC teams gameplan for Aggy now that they know how potent that spread offense can be.
SEC teams will need to keep the ball away from A&M to win. Last year, our D-Line was surprisingly very very good and our front 7 really played the run well all season. We lost two starting LBs and two starting DTs after last season so this is going to be the big question mark that will end up defining A&Ms season. Can the front 7 on defense perform as well as it did last year? The offense is stacked in every way and our secondary is very solid.
of course, we do have the pending suspension of two of our DBs and some health questions about the DE. defense is going to be a question indeed.
Everett and Raven will get a 1 game suspension IMO.
The injury gods were very nice to us last season and were going to need that again defensively. As long as Ennis and Obioha can play up to their standards and stay healthy than the D-Line should be able to hold it down alright. If guys starting dropping then their will be some real concerns up front.
LB crew I'm not as worried about as long as Jenkins and Baggs stay healthy.
Man, this past week has been a full Manziel family meltdown.
Probably the low point though, barring some spectacular incident.
Johnny Football selling autographs! He's done and so is A&M!

Two sources tell "Outside the Lines" that the Texas A&M quarterback agreed to sign memorabilia in exchange for a five-figure flat fee during his trip to Miami for the Discover BCS National Championship. Both sources said they witnessed the signing, though neither saw the actual exchange of money.
The man is turning into the Ali of college football.
How can you not watch him?
Barking at the Arkansas bench.
Raising his arms imploring the Arkansas fans to get louder.
And backing it up.
Great stuff.
No, no. It means he's on a bent path to ruin his life.
People constantly talking to you and you're just supposed to take it because it's the right thing to do right?
If they talk football to him, he rams it down their throat.
Its so nonAggie, its beautiful.
Dammit. I was out at Oktoberfest on Fry while the game was on. Does anyone have any vid links to some of this stuff you're talkin about?
The Arkansas players and bench were clearly giving it to Johnny all game last night and he would chime back here and there. Nothing you haven't seen a thousand other times involving a thousand other players. It's just news with Manziel.
However, the crowd was really giving it to him during the first or second quarter and he was pumping up the crowd telling them to get louder which was pretty lol.
Haha. Awesome. I've been curious to see how opposing fans would react to him this year. I'm gonna choose to enjoy him reveling in it until he can no longer follow-thru.
