#Texas played Iowa State after Darrell Royal's death last year. Cyclones up again after the death of another Longhorn legend.
24/7 saying ATH Kevin Shorter is a guy to keep an eye on as Texas struggles. He is rumored to have attended Texas A&M's home game against SMU recently. With that said, he is telling his coaches he doesn't want to receive mail from anyone other than UT.

Joe Schad @schadjoe
I was thinking of asking the President of the American Football Coaches Association about September firings. But it's Mack Brown.
Joe Schad @schadjoe
John Mackovic, Lane Kiffin and Paul Pasqualoni are the only BCS AQ coaches fired in September since the start of the BCS Era (1998).
I don't think Texas and USC will be after the same candidates, but found this tweet interesting:
Bruce Feldman @BFeldmanCBS
Another reason for #USC to fire Kiffin in Sept: "It gets you 2 months ahead of Texas," added time to get ppl internally aligned, per source.
Some practice notes from Inside Texas...
-QB David Ash did not practice yesterday, doesn't look good for Iowa State as of today
-CB Quandre Diggs did not practice either due to a leg injury, looks day-to-day
-both WR Mike Davis and RB Daje Johnson are back and looking healthy
but Mack won the last game

Per 24/7, five-star JUCO WR D'haquille Williams says he's decided to take official visits despite being committed to Auburn. The thought right now is if he de-commits from Auburn, he'll likely re-commit to LSU.
"I know for sure LSU and Southern Cal will get officials," Williams said. "I've got to see about my other two, though. I'm also talking to Texas and Florida State."
ouch the campbell one hurts. mack has been trying to solicit pros who played for UT to come in and help out in the program.
ouchies.
Long awaited news on Deloss stepping down should be coming tomorrow

I wonder if the Kiffin firing sped up this process? Or was it always the plan to announce before OU?
when words can't express how you feel...
Who's coming in? Different posters on different sites claims that Texas is all in on the Louisville duo Charlie Strong and Tom Jurich? "Established" writers from different websites claims that Jack Swarbrick (Notre Dame) and Oliver Luck (West Virginia) are the frontrunners. Been a while since I've heard Bob Bowlsby's name.
I don't know much about AD's, but what Jurich has accomplished at Louisville is incredible! Would definitely be excited about that one!
Outside of Saban, I really would hate to see Shaw or Strong land in Austin.
strong would be a great get. he's young and has connections to florida. he can be a great recruiter and can also get the defense back to form quickly.
Hopefully some of you caught the drunk Washington State fan on Saturday night. Instant classic:

A History of Lane Kiffin...

I think Saban is the #1 guy (Texas will try to negotiate) followed by Strong and Muschamp. Not counting on Shaw at the moment.
That's the top tier right now, imo.
Cant imagine it making it past Strong if he is candidate #2.
