It's On Demand with Directv.
I like that you can watch all of their shows on demand (that's how I caught up with GoT during my free subscription), it's just too bad that their shows will probably never be on the streaming services. I can't get myself to pay for premium channels.
1. Lonesome Dove
2. Band of Brothers
3. Breaking Bad
First 2 are kind of cheating since they're miniseries but Lonesome Dove had quite possibly one of the GOAT casts ever.
Personally I think The Wire didn't age well, same with The Sopranos, but they're both great shows still
My TV list sucks and I also want to throw in BBC's Sherlock, The Simpsons, Seinfeld, and Frasier into the mix
I thought Vince Gilligan and Co. took a pretty big on issues like the health care industry, midlife crisis, drug war, and financial inequality. From the start of BB to the end we saw how people are exploited by rich and powerful s bags and how it helped spark the transformation for Mr. Chips to turn into Scarface
4th
oh, 5th if Band of Brothers is in the mix
How so? The only thing that seems out of place now on The Wire is the pagers from Season 1, but otherwise the country is still ed, newspapers are still dying, the drug war continues unabated with no end in sight, the American dream is still on life support, the schools still suck and still teach to the test... I mean, I think it's more relevant than ever with Obama looking like a carbon copy of Carcetti.
yeah, Oz is a show that did not age well. The Wire has aged quite well imo
I meant more as a TV show instead of an essay because the themes definitely carry over. The cinematography, characters, screenplay, acting, pacing, etc. didn't age well imo, or at least falls short to the other greats. Like The Sopranos there's also too much fat to chew through. Don't get me wrong they're still great shows but they were more like GOAT's of the moment to me
Simpsons? Seriously? It was once an incredible show in the first 6 or 7 years, but now it has had 15 straight of being one of the worst things on TV. I mean crap like Two and a Half Men and Big Bang Theory is way more watchable now than Matt Groening's steaming turds. Dude completely checked out on Simpsons once he got Futurama. What a piece of Simpsons became and has now been for the strong majority of its time on air.
Yea its more for the golden years of The Simpsons and its influence on the industry. Even Futurama was barely average imo but had its moments and I'm a scifi nerd
To me The Simpsons is the Gilbert Arenas of TV. Great for a few years, but so bad the rest of the time so as to completely ruin the legacy.
Do not misrepresent my position..
I believe every spiritual truth in the bible. Believing "everything" implies I take everything literally, which I don't. Because the book is packed with metaphors, symbolism, parables, and prophecies I can believe it is true, but in no way is it history or science, particularly the OT.
Nice try.
I'll bite. How does your ending go, skulk?
Yeah, I watched every episode of The Soprano's, Lucky Louie, most of OZ, Eastbound and Down, and Summer Heights High before my free 90 day trial expired. I haven't tried the streaming service yet.
Eastbound and Down was so disappointing. The first season was hilarious and then the last two were Simpsons bad. Wish they would have dumped that and given Hung another couple of seasons instead.
I thought Season 2 was decent, but 3 was pretty lame. If you like Danny McBride, you need to check out "The Foot Fist Way". It's available on a certain site that rhymes with "Climate Lay".
My three faves are Breaking Bad, BBC's Life on Mars, and the Wire. Mad Men is up there too, and I have been really impressed with how Justified has improved season to season as well, and it may round out a solid top 5 for me when its said and done the Deadwood cameos are a great bonus.
