We invaded Afghanistan to overthrow the Taliban (who were becoming an issue anyway) and set the stage to capture Osama Bin Laden. Iraq was a worthless war, IMO was either to finish Bush Sr.'s war, and/or to gain more oil resources. If we were to invade Syria this would be moral, which is not to be confused with religious agendas. The moral part stems from the Geneva Convention.
