In the late 90s they started showing live regular season games, but in the mid the 90s it was the game of the week followed by the top 10 on Saturdays.

And I remember watching the FInals late at night ... Bulls vs Blazers, vs Suns, Rox vs NYK .... so much anticipation before game 1

They also showed the Tournament of Americas in Portland with the Original Dream Team - but only USA games

The only guys I've seen play before that were MJ, Pippen, Magic, Bird, Kareem, Worthy, Drexler, Isiah, Dumars, Wilkins

Then discovered the other guys : Mullin, Barkley, D-Rob ... etc .... instantly became a Robinson fan, which is why I've been a Spurs fan
