My goddess's first Oscar nomination on the way... for "her"?

e Jonze’s movie “Her” entered the Oscar fray this weekend by closing out the New York Film Festival and with an after-party bash at the Top of the Standard Saturday night.Mr. Jonze and his leading man, Joaquin Phoenix, will surely garner awards buzz for this quirky love story, set in a “future L.A. that felt nice to be in,” said Mr. Jonze, though it was shot in China. The film is about an Internet company employee (Mr. Phoenix) who falls in love with the voice of his new operating system, played by Scarlett Johansson.
Amy Adams, who joined co-stars Rooney Mara and Olivia Wilde at the after-party, will surely get accolades too, for her role as a downtrodden video-game developer. But the real question at the Standard was whether Ms. Johansson — who wasn’t present and is not seen in the movie either — could earn supporting actress attention for her nuanced vocal performance. (Samantha Morton was originally cast in the role; she was replaced by Ms. Johansson after filming began.)
Ms. Johansson has been nominated several times for a Golden Globe, but never an Oscar. She won a Tony for her performance in a recent revival of Arthur Miller’s “A View From the Bridge.”
Ms. Johansson seems to have the backing of the creative team and Warner Bros. On Sunday, a post on the Twitter account for “Her” producer Megan Ellison read: “Scarlett is eligible, deserves the recognition, and we are going to campaign for her.”
