No, HEB is catering to ethnicity. Manu in those commericals today is the equivalent of Barry doing them a few years ago. THE BIG FOUR is BRUCE-TIM-TONY-MANU. The CURRENT Big Three: TIM-TONY-LEONARD. THERE IS NO BIG FOUR. Manu is NOT big anything, except turnovers.
That is a BS opinion if I ever heard one!
You don't spend that kind of money based on ethnicity. That isn't sound business practice.
They acknowledge The Big Four because the old guard, The Big Three, is on the decline.
And they are making the bridge, IMHO.
If you are going to make a statement then acknowledge that it is YOUR OPINION, and not a fact that you made up.
Say something reasonable that does not reek of blind obsessive hatred! Then we might listen to you and maybe even respect some of your opinions.
    Just saying.
    No offense intended.

The f*** you don't!! HEB has a HUGE "Hispanic" clientele. HUGE. The same reason they paint many of their stores in "Hispanic" markets in garish paint. It is an ethinic appeal strategy and it works. Manu is NOT part of a big anything except a marketing campaign. He is done. There is only one Big Four and that was with Bruce. The CURRENT Big Three does not include Manu. (The bridge take is a fair one, but I don't agree with it. The decline is Manu and Manu alone right now. There is no Big Four.)

The only one refusing to accept reality is you, or maybe you and your gang of haters.
Thus the only one with a problem is you and your gang.
The sooner you realize this, the sooner you will begin to heal and rejoin reality.
None of us have a problem. The Spurs don't have a problem. HEB doesn't have a problem.
And the poll reflects the truth, that the rational greater majority of fans don't have a problem.
Rather it shows how obsessive, irrational, unrealistic, unreasonable, and unappreciative you guys really are!
That should be a moment of epiphany for you, but it isn't, so your credibility will continue to suffer and degrade until either nothing is left, or you come to your senses!
    Sorry if the truth hurts.
You don't have to get all butthurt to the point of cussing about it.
    It is what it is!

I used to do extensive survey taking in grad school as a GA along with all the other stuff I did with statistics and marketing. I am not in the least bit concerned by some flawed, unbalanced, biased, LEADING, statistically insignificant poll. I also do not consider "common sense" common. (Manu lovers are true definition of "fans" as in FANATICS. Blindly loyal. Unthinking. Stupid. People who live on hope instead of reality. They are the types who probably drive by looking in the rearview mirror.) The reason HEB keeps Manu in the damned commercials has ZERO to do with his CURRENT playing ability. It has EVERYTHING to do with marketing and prior reputation. THERE IS NO BIG FOUR because Bruce retired and your lame attempt to make it "stick" is laughable. Let it go. It sounds weak. The Big Three no longer includes Ginobili. The sooner YOU can accept that the better YOUR credibility will be.

No commercial will ever approach the subtle creepiness of Tiago preparing to shut the trunk on an SUV full of teenage girls and a grinning Gary Neal
Holy I've never seen that before

BTW if you don't think that the corporate jews over at HEB don't realize the ethnic value of putting a popular spanish-speaking athlete in their commercials in South Texas...c'mon son. Not saying it's the only reason he's in the commercials but it's definitely one of them

I agree with that, it isn't unreasonable, and as you surmise it isn't the only reason.
What I can't agree with is blind obsessive hatred.
We all saw Manu screw up badly in the playoffs especially game 6. I don't dispute that either, I saw it with my own eyes, you saw it, we all saw it, but he was not the only one who screwed up as these idiots keep trying to ram down our throats.
I will always disagree with wild unreasonable, illogical, and obsessively hateful rants.
By and large most on here agree that the Spurs could and should have won game 6 if they had made just one more point or garnered that last rebound. Thus they lost as a team because Manu was not the only player out there playing against the Heat.
Now the haters are alleging, no, flat out claiming that had he not been there then the Spurs would have won more rings.
This is so stupid that it ranks among the all time ignorant claims in this forum IMHO.

Yeah I agree, some of my homies TGY and Skull take it too far and I don't agree with everything they say but at least half or more of what they're saying is true and they, in the beginning, were getting ripped for saying the same things I am and I think over time they just said it and started trolling Manufan

yeah i think they've taken it farther than i would, but as long as the Cult of Manu tries to silence dissent or rewrite history, the "haters" are necessary imo.

There would never have been a cult if they had not tried to ram it down our throats in the first place. They created it, their own monster to bite them in the ass!
You can't just sugar coat it like that and say they are justified.

If you go back to when those two started posting their opinions, rarely anyone disagreed with them, myself included.
But by the tenth time saying the exact same thing, and putting it in every single thread no matter that the topic had nothing to do with Manu, smacks squarely on the head of obsession, narrow mindedness, and ignorance. By the 100th time it was intolerable!

And then whenever anyone at all had the temerity to disagree, they were cussed at, called obscenities, given the " " label, and made to look foolish, all just because someone did not agree with them.
That is unacceptable childish behavior and deserved to be defended and called out no matter who you are or where it reared it's ugly head.
It got to be so irritating and annoying and demeaning that even if you had half a mind to agree with them, you would disagree!

That is where things stand now. They should have never started it in the first place. Better yet, they should have shared their opinion just a few times, especially when most of us got it the first time.

I haven't taken it that far. Let's be real. My assertion is that Manu is not irreplaceable. TIM is irreplaceable. I will even go so far as to say that losing BRUCE hurt us way more than keeping Manu has helped. We have been DYING for a replacement for Bowen since his departure. Only the ascension of Leonard has stopped the mediocrity since we lost #12. (And the notion that the Spurs could not have won at LEAST two les from 2004 through 2013 without Manu is not a stretch by any means.)

    You are stretching now.
I'm sorry man, but no one believes that.
And especially your last sentence, the one in parentheses, it is just waaaaay too wild and hypothetical.
I will give you one thing though, as bad as you've been with your obsession, it was not even a 100th as bad as TGY.

So our collapse since Bruce and resurgence (FINALLY) with Leonard is just a fluke? NO. DEFENSE is the Spurs' way. Defense wins Championships--not wild offenses that get shut down in the playoffs when the refs start letting fouls go.

I do not disagree with that, skull. In fact those years not too long ago when we had the best offense in the league, I said the same thing.
I even compared it to the Suns high octane offense, but qualified it by saying we did not have the defense to go all the way because defense wins championships IMHO. That proved to be true.
But don't take my word for it, go back and check the threads for yourself.

I'm not saying I disagree with your arguments, I just mean taking it far in terms of bringing up Manu a lot. It's more than I would, but like Leetonidas said above, I enjoy seeing you guys get them upset. I've made my peace that he's paid to sell the team to south and central Americans at this point. I agree that losing prime Bowen has hurt us the most than say Manu who has been reliably inconsistent the past few years.

Fair enough. I admit to baiting the hook a bit too often I guess. Good points in your post. Well said.
