It's amazing how folks still don't understand how Pop runs the team with regard to minutes, especially with bench players. He uses the merit system. Everyone starts even and then they get the minutes they earn by performance in practice and in the games. No one gets a pass based on years in the league or salary or whatever. Jax apparently never understood that past heroics or skill levels determined the minutes he played---and he's gone.
If Baynes should suddenly begin to take his game to a higher level, he will be rewarded with more minutes. If he demonstrates he can play center better than Splitter, he will begin to take those minutes. Probably not going to happen, but it could thanks to Pop's meritocracy. If it comes down to a compe ion between Ayres and Diaw or Baynes, it will benefit all of them to have to work hard and produce.
