Really disappointing that Ayers is such a weak rebounder. Another big that's soft on the boards isn't going to cut it...especially with Tiago and Bonner already on the team. Considering his defense isn't really all that impressive and his offense is nothing to write home about, I don't know why the front office paid so much for him.

Underwhelmed tbh, had some nice assist but also turned the ball over 4 times. I just don't see him as any sort of offensive threat. The only reason he plays over Mills is because he plays good defense. If only he had Mills's offensive game
Patty was no slouch on defense tonight, which shows that he's capable of being a decent defensive player. He had 5 steals and 2 blocks. In the postgame interview, he said that he plays a different brand of defense to Cojo; that Cojo's defense relies on him banging bodies with his opponents in the halfcourt, while Patty's defense revolves around him tiring or wearing out his opponents in the full court. When Patty has a lot of energy, his defense is just as effective as Cojo's defense.

Defense at the point guard position isn't really all that important anyway. Patty's problem is more about being able to play within the Spurs offense.

He actually had some decent steals. He's so tiny that players lose track of him.

We should just trade Mills for real. Get a pick for him or some guy that will actually be in the rotation. The only way he gets 20ppg is if he's the main guy (like in the preseason), and with the team the way it is and the weapons we have, he can't go iso on every possession with our real lineup out there.

Knew off topic, but have you guys been to the cojo thread? Playnando said that pop hates the French, main reason why he doesn't play nando. Playnando just leveled up with that one IMHO.

I disagree. If you cannot at least impede the point guards ability to get in the lane then you have the best possible manner to break down a defense.

Liked how Marco played. With Manu on the court he can really be something. Also like how Mills played and Manu looks much better than last year. He's like 2X faster. I still think Nando should get traded and I am not impressed by Joseph. Ayres looks kinda lost on the floor.

They're going to have to play Mills the way he's playing. Since he's not a natural point guard, he'll have to be on the floor with some combination of Diaw, Ginobili, Belinelli

Yes the trotted out Mills Manu Belli Ayers Diaw and that blew the game open. He got a cup of coffee with the ones and finished up with the Mills Cojo DeColo Bonner Baynes travesty as well.
That was Pop being nice to Jacque Vaughn by totting out a lineup where Orlando actually had a chance to score. Magic weren't learning anything against the starters as they didn't have a clue how to score against the Spurs.

I think the starting 5 should have more capable ball distributors.

Should be Parker, Green, Leonard, Diaw and Duncan.

    While the bench should feature

Mills, Beninelli, Ginobilli, Spltter and Baynes

Not sure where Ayres fits in... he didn't show anything this last game. Doesn't seem to have any quickness at all!

He definitely picked it up as the game went on. Great screens as usual, another baseline jumper, block above the rim, cut off several guys to keep them out of the lane, able to get out on guys on the perimeter and recover. Bad double team and late on a rotation or two but infinitely better than the turd towers lineups.
His screens are great. He's a presence on defense. Finally another center who can actually block shots. He's got a very decent jumper, much better than Tiago which is non-existent. He can finish with the left or right hand. Honestly, Baynes is much better than Splitter.

As Tim continued chanting, the ball floated up from floor...causing Spurs and Magic players both to retreat with great fear.

I have only seen a couple of games, but my take on Ayers is that he is a very poor shooter, but able to post up and draw fouls. Then he makes a good percentage of his fouls. That is his offensive game. Doesn't appear to be a great rebounder or defender to me.

Unless he shows some more game, he doesn't have the upside of Baynes on both ends of the court and isn't going to be as valuable as Baynes as a big man off the bench in my opinion.

Splitter's pnr defense is best on the team an one the best in the NBA. He is pretty damn savvy on the offensive pnr too.

I would grant that Baynes has a higher ceiling but right now Splitter is better.

Anyone know where I can "t word" the game? Talking about the "t word" is technically forbidden on these forums so hopefully "t word" is good enough.
