http://www.bizjournals.com/austin/bl...nnons-put.htmlAustin is in the midst of a cold war over y tacos. And there are even cannons involved.
The taco turf war goes back to last year’s Fun Fun Fun Festival, when promotion company Transmission Events outfitted a T-shirt cannon to fire tacos from Torchy’s Tacos into crowds of frenzied music fans. The stunt garnered lots of press for the festival and Transmission, who had plans to bring the cannon back for the 2013 version of the fest in November.
But they’ll be doing so without Torchy’s, which created its own taco cannon – called the Taco Dream Machine — with plans to use it at store events. Transmission Events officials say they weren't told in advance of Torchy's decision, and expressed some disappointment with their former partner. As a result, Fun Fun Fun Fest crowds will get barraged with Tamale House tacos this year in light of Torchy's decision.
“Everyone knows it’s our idea and I think (Torchy’s) were surprised at how much fun it turned out to be and they wanted to have it year-round,” said James Moody, co-owner of Transmission, who learned of the Torchy’s cannon this summer. “We’ve publicly checked them on it because it would have been nice to have been informed.”
Representatives from Torchy’s said the company isn’t discussing the matter, other than to say the company is not in compe ion with Transmission Events.

Torchy's tacos can't even survive a five minute ride in the car, much less being shot out of a cannon.
Why are the tortillas so damn small? It's the cheapest part of the taco.
That was one of my mine gripes moving from SA to Dallas. The totillas are like the size of your palms. I was going to make a gripe thread about it. Is that how it is in Austin too? Don't remember, been about a decade since I lived there.
nah just torchy's.
torchy's is for frat daddies and richers. they buy a .50 taco for 7 bucks.
go to riverside and check out their taco stands. cheap as and much tastier.
Veracruz on Casear Chavez is pretty good too
