You can't disregard the first part and only count the second you moron.

He made the threat. He implored me to meet him so he could "beat my ass" - this is already established.
If I responded in kind - and then he actually showed up to follow up on his threat - all of this will be taken into account and it will be sorted out if he actually follows through and commits an offense once we meet.

I'm not disregarding his threat, but we both agree he was just trolling you.

but you're a peace officer. You don't get to make threats in return. You only get to defend yourself.

If his threats were real - I had to make mine real to make the meet believable.

If his threats were trolling - you can't cherry pick and say his were trolling and mine were real.

If he wanted to venture into this there are consequences and they are real. I stated it before - that if we had actually met - I would have at least let him know I was a p.o. before he did anything stupid - sort of a funny lesson IMO - and hopefully he wasn't stupid - and I also stated that I didn't want to see him put his family through anything.
