Wonderful, but the cartels will fight legalization in Texas with every penny they have!

for the cartels, there would still be the cocaine, heroin, and synthetic drug markets.

What are they going to do? Attack farmers that sell to US firms? That would help domestic production. Subs ute corn for weed. Within a decade the cartels would lose a lot of capacity for that; cocaine and heroin are not made in Mexico for the most part. They can try and attack Carolina, KY and other prime cannabis growing territory but that would be difficult to sustain.

so the cartels will start shooting up politicians and federal/state buildings?

doubtful. the cartels have no such power. This is not 1981

the more I think about it the more I think this idea makes too much damn sense!

The government could tax it at very high level and the price would still come out better than illegal weed. Not only that but the revenue saved in all the prison/judicial expenses would more than pay for everyone's health care

I think all the pot growers in Mexico would be in peril. If they sold to Dole or some other ag business they could be in for reprisal.

the big obstacle in CA was BigAlcohol stopping legalization, since they know mj would replace alcohol significantly.

and BigPharma knows damn well that the mj CBD chemical works into the human endocannabinoid system as a wonderful cancer fighter.

cartels aren't the hurdle, it's the US mega-corps, mofos as always.

agree. don't forget about the prison mega corps and most of the lawyers, lawfirms and their relatives who would be against this as well.

I think we might have hit a roadblock comrades.

It has come to our attention the total cost of healthcare to every person in the US is around 3 trillion dollars

we could barely make 10 billion tops off of weed taxes

we would still need to come up with 2.99 trillion to cover the rest

we're ed, but it's still probably a better idea than burning $500 million for an ecommerce site built by canadians and calling it the best thing since the invention of the Iphone

It's not cartels fighting legalization, it's the private prison industry (a libertarian wet dream tbh).

58% of the country wants legalized marijuana. In a supposed "Democracy" this shouldn't even be a debate, but it is because of corporate interests.

Extremely easy. But climates are much different if growing outdoors (in Texas) and would cause stress on said strain , which would yield a less potent crop. Unless you go indoor, which is definitely not going to be "free".

rather than dumping our wealth, via mj sales taxes, into the corrupt, hyper-expensive health care system, much better to have a mandatory government no-profit health insurance and no profit government health care providers.

if you set up a wicking garden box I think you could do pretty good, even in TX.
