I wasted a lot of thought on this DMC fellow because I thought he was sincerely debating an issue. In the end he lost interest and called me a troll. So much for logic and reason.
Well, for someone who is so proud of his "edumacation" and identifies himself so militantly with his " les" and "labels" (he also loooves when I use quotation marks) it is ironic that these are exactly the major obstructions to any clues that might lead him to truth.I knew you would appreciate this tune.

The very things that he believes make him a "wise or knowledgeable" person are the biggest obstacles to gaining this wisdom - or to seeing things that appear to be mysteries of the universe. Those things (logic/reasoning) prevent you from seeing what might be there - because you are placing strict "rules" on the process - the process of "seeing reality."
The fact that you told him that you can use science and spirituality and other combinations to arrive at where you are now - and it makes perfect sense - was met with more insults and more condescension.
In this case - no amount of credentials or intelligence or superiority - will be enough to see what is right in front of him because he already concluded that only "science" is legitimate and only "science" can lead to truth/sight/god/reality. In other words by concluding that only science is legitimate - he already disqualified untold clues that the spiritual side could have afforded him.
Doesn't sound very logical or scientific to eliminate possibilities before even starting and it absolutely does not appear to be reasonable.
But he will hang his hat on "logic" and "reason"
Nonetheless - we will still send him love.
As if logic and reason were the only tools at his disposal.
You can safely bet he will discount love unfortunately.

But - is it logical to discard 50% of the available clues because they are spiritual clues or "unscientific" clues?

No.
I agree. You can't prove or disprove God any more than you can prove or disprove love. Or even time, or thought, or vector space, or string theory.
And have you ever seen someone die? I'm sure you have. One minute the spirit in that physical body is animating themselves, and the next minute the spirit leaves and the body is no longer animate and begins to rot. How do they explain that? They can't.
Yes, unfortunately I have and there are things that cannot be explained - and I am not claiming that "god" is involved - just stating that there are many unexplainable things in life.
Trying to make sense of mystery by using human concepts is fruitless. It cannot be explained by the conceptualizing human mind. This is pretty simple to understand IMO.
It is a mystery. One moment there is animation and glitter in there eyes, the next moment no animation and a glazed over look from their eyes. Where did they go? Why did they leave their s behind?
And then it makes one wonder how someone like Jesus Christ was able to reanimate his body by infusing his spirit back into it and rising from the dead. What happened to the deterioration that set in after he died? What was he doing while his body rested in the grave until he arose? What Truths are to be found in all of that?
...or is it a metaphor and a lesson for humans to
die - to the need of everything and anything - die to the need of other people
die to the need of material things
die to the need of everything
In order to be born again - or in order to be alive?
In order to be in a state of LOVE.
This is the thread that should appeal the most, unless everyone just prefers trolling.
