.4
#5 - last year epic choke job by Pop by taking out Duncan in the last 10 seconds.. also Ray travelled on the big 3 pt shot
#6 - 2 years ago.. epic ref takeover against the Thunder... even Timmy who has never spoken out against reffing said "They got every single call and then some"
#7 - Manu Ginobili epic choke job against the Mavs in game 7 a few years ago... Spurs wouldve easily whooped the Heat
If Tim Duncan was MJ/Kobe , the league/stern/mafia wouldve found a way for him to win.. ah well *shrug*
No. No one else has ever noticed that.
2006, Pop playing small ball put Spurs in position to lose and refs ed us badly ( ing Javie), so I don't blame Manu for that one.
And you forgot .4..so that's at least 8
He's also one Horry 3 and one Horry hipcheck from 2 les.
And this was worth a thread?
This thread is f$cking stupid.
also 2000 Duncan goes down with an injury- Spurs have no chance to defend le.
Duncan easily has 10 les in alternate universe tbh..
Just to take the other side ---
If Horry's shot goes in (for the Lakers) in '03 or if Horry's shot doesn't go in (for the Spurs) in '05, it could be only two les.
That said, I agree the Spurs should have at least seven les, dammit.
99 - Patrick Ewing wasn't injured (Spurs actually never beated the Knicks by more than 13, Ewing could have easily made this a series)
03 - Horry's shot go in
05 - Spurs choke Game 5
07 - Spurs don't go chollo on the Suns
Bam, we're down from 1 to 0 les.
Honestly, a bit of bull has to happen for any team to win the championship. Sometimes it's in our favor, other times not so much.
Well, I think the Spurs should have ten les going all the way back to Ice and Capt. Late, and then later to the Admiral, Elliott, and Strickland.
How about those apples?
But we have to start with number five first.
spoiled-ass Spurs fans complaining about not having 7-10 les

My version:
1998 - Duncan injury
2000 - same as above
2001 - Derek Anderson injury
2002 - David Robinson injury
2004 - fisher
2006 - foul
2008 - Brent Barry no call
2011 - Manu injury
2012 - um...shoulda won
2013 - we all know
What's that 14 les.
Realistically, the only years that matter are 2006 and 2013.
2004 - TD wasn't going to beat the Pistons by himself. Detroit wins that year no matter what happens.
2012 - SA weren't a top ranked defense that year. Miami would have beaten us in five games.
Imo, SA was the best team in the league in '06 though. SA had homecourt thoughout the playoffs, they had the big three relatively healthy too..unfortunately nobody could have imagined Pop being outcoached this badly by Avery Johnson. 2013 speaks for itself.
2005 could have easily gone the other way, but for the Horry heroics. These type of counter factuals are useless.
The big thing you're missing from '99 is with ewing no way the knicks make the finals.
That's horse dallas choked their ass off against miami, no way a one man team beats the Spurs. It would've been like '07 was against lebron.
Thanks for this thread! It saves me from starting my "If my aunt had a penis she'd be my uncle" thread.
#1 We wouldn't have won in 2004 - Pistons were better than us that year.
#2 In 2006, yes, we would've slaughtered the Heat.
#3 We didn't choke last year. We got some bad bounces and, believe it or not, were beaten by a team that was a fraction better than we were when it mattered. Tough to swallow, but it's the truth.
i dont think the Spurs would have beaten the Heat in '12. We would have smashed them in 06 though. At that point Duncan was clearly better than Shaq and the TP/Manu tandem would have been too much for Miami.
The Fisher-barry bump was so annoying too. After the game they were like "oh he should have sold it better." assholes encouraging flopping. they say the refs don't want to decide the game with their whistles, but damn, you have to let the guy get his shot off, or else you ARE deciding the game by allowing them to hack. we win that game its 2-2 and different series
29 seconds left, up by 4, have 2 free throws. in that situation, its game over unless you choke.
True, but does that Spurs team beat the Celtics that year? I don't know. I don't think we would've beat the Pistons if .4 didn't happen. I guess it's all theoretical, but the only ones I feel pissed about are 06 and this year because of how it finished. I also think we could've beaten the Heat if not for the Thunderefs, but who knows.
