I'd probably agree. Dude's not been hurt much, if at all. Every other team has their stars in and out of the rotation for injuries almost on a yearly basis. Kobe's been pretty damn tough, but as far as playing injured, no one beats Steve Nash. I don't see how anyone could even come close except Manu.

does toughest = longevity? seems like a list of guys who for the most part have been around for a while
I think toughest = works harder in the gym than anyone (it's accepted in the NBA that Kobe spends more time in the gym than anyone else), in minutes played, in taking contact in the paint and still making it to the next game.
Coaches would probably agree. No one here has said he's not a tough bas , just that he's a selfish one and was groomed to be the heir apparent which he's not. Had he not suffered the MJ comparisons his entire career (likely his own doing), his legacy looks much brighter.

then this list carries no weight. Cojo can put in the work at the gym but he will never be Parker let alone Payton, Kidd, or Nash. i cant take a list seriously where Nick Collison is ranked anywhere near Kobe, whether its for being tough or not.

Nash has a high basketball iq? Guys ever watch him drift on defense and go out of position for no reason?
"Can" and "have for the past 15 years" is two completely different things. You cannot include people who could have. You only include people who have. It's not about ability. Manu has ability, but he's frail and fragile. He's mentally tough, but not physically tough. Ron Artest is physically a beast, mentally a midget. Tim is mentally a beast, physically though he's injured a few games every season it seems.
So you have to consider longevity, their role, their minutes, what they deal with mentally day in and day out. I have no problem say Kobe is toughest in that area, and sure another person in his role could be as well, but it's a tough role.
Nash is a ty defender, but not because he doesn't know what he should be doing. He understands the game as well as anyone, but like most PGs he's more focused on then offensive end.
It may be true that Nash can try his best but still not be a lock down defender due to his athleticism, but he wouldn't be as bad as he has displayed the last decade.
He genuinely seemed clueless on the defensive end, drifting around and not guarding anyone or any spots for reason no one can explain, often for long stretches of the game.
That's because he played for Mike D. It's not because of a lack of basketball IQ. A person who doesn't understand defenses cannot run the offense very well, as he has to predict and counter the defense he's facing. He might not play his role well, but that doesn't mean he doesn't understand it. Dejuan Blair, he doesn't understand it. Matt Bonner doesn't understand it. Smart guy, but doesn't understand the game.
my pierce has always been the toughest player of all time in my mind. suffered 11 stabs in a nightclub yet only missed half the season, and came back stronger than ever. dude's tough as tbh.
How can people say Bryant has a high bball IQ when half of his ty performances in clutch time have been because he cannot find the open man? Not trusting your teammates who have good shooting % and don't have a defender within 10 feet while you are being triple covered is a pretty clear sign of low bballIQ.
Kobe is great because he was a top athlete that could hit jumpers even under defensive pressure. We have seen guys like Raja Bell blanket him and he would still hit those jumpers. He doesn't make the guys around him better by refusing to pass the ball. High bballIQ my ass.

I can't blame it all on mike d. He had other coaches in his career and his d always stunk. Just because he can read defense and counter accordingly doesn't mean he can play it himself.
If he actually understands d and still refused to play it he that would make him even dumber.
You have to be tough to take it up the ass from the media like Kobe does.
No, that would make him lazier. Understanding it automatically rules out the dumbness, unless you're equivocating "dumb" with "stupid", which would be completely different than IQ.
