Getting back to...Root Hog.
First time I heard this song I was a kid listening to the radio. The DJ talked about the girl who recorded it being a teenager from Philly, yep, black and very raw. At that time I wasn't the music freak I would become so I missed her name.
I'd hear the song again on Rhapsody, where she must have got it because this recording was from the late 40's. Robert Richard an old obscure Detroit bluesman recorded it, it's...Root Hawg...not Root Hog, my bad.
To this day I still wonder just who was that teenage girl I first heard do a song you wouldn't think a young girl would even be aware of.
