T-Mac, Gilbert Arenas, Allen Iverson, Vince Carter all logged high minutes and all got injured in their early 30's and careers were never the same. Yet they were fully capable health wise of "carrying" their team in their 20's.

The fact that Manu also got injured in his 30's does not mean it is correct to say "Man look at this dude. If he's crashing with injuries like this, imagine if he was actually logging high minutes. He would have never been able to carry a team in his prime simply cause he can't handle the workload".

That is absolutely false. This dude first got his major injury in 2008 playoffs as a 31 year old man. That is not earlier than most athletes. It is normal to expect injury potentially starting at that age. Some a little earlier (Amare, Gilbert), some later.

When Manu was healthy and in his absolute prime (2004-2008), health was not the reason he didn't play more than 30 minutes a game. it was the system, the environment, and Manu playing efficient, selfless basketball. This man is such a genius he fking teaches Math to kids as his charity endeavor. Not fking buying high schools jerseys and shoes like most athletes. He teaches math. Advanced stats that .

So stop writing revisionist history like this dude in his prime couldn't carry a team cause of health. He's lasted a of a lot longer than most players in the league.

I don't give a . I was simply stating that Ginobili has been the first option in the past. Also if winning 50+ games in each of those seasons and being a playoff team is jack , then I guess we sucked really bad those seasons huh? Lol

That is laughable. In a 6 year span his average P.E.R was 23 (during his 6 year contract ). Parkers P.E.R. last was 23 for reference. In other words he was a elite player for a stretch of 6 seasons.

Manu was the leading scorer on the 10-11 team. We won 61 games...

Carried us to the playoffs the prior season with Duncan in decline, Parker's broken hand and RJ being a massive disappointment in his 1st season.

The same 2011 season when we lost to an 8th seed? Yeah, great example there. Definitely proves Manu can lead a team to an embarrassing playoff exit.

PER is a per minute stat so it favors guys like Manu. Make Ginobili the number one option on a team and his minutes will go up...which will eventually lead to multiple injuries. Manu should count himself lucky to play for a coach like Pop who's carefully managed his minutes throughout his career. On any other team, Manu would have had a career ending injury by now.

Yeah...The same year Manu averaged 20 ppg and 5 apg against the best perimeter defender in the NBA in the playoffs. He also was playing with a broken right arm.

Duncan also averaged only 13 points. RJ played so badly he got benched, even though he was our only SF. Parker struggled & ZBo had a fantastic series.

You wanna tell me again how that isn't an great example...

So, basically, Manu wasn't good enough to carry the team past the first round...against an 8th seed. Franchise players will take over games. Manu couldn't. Again, Ginobili's a solid player but this nonsense about him being a first option calibre player is ridiculous. He's best utlizied as a 2nd option/3rd option on a contender. As a first option, he'll fall apart on your team due to the heavy minutes and you'll have another 2011 fiasco.

It's no coincidence that the Spurs suddenly became contenders again after Duncan turned the clock back last year. Like always, the Spurs go as far as TD can take them.

What about 2005? 2007? He didn't lead us to the finals right?

No, Duncan lead the team to the finals. Manu never even averaged 20 points a game, plus too many missed games and down minutes. You are not helping the team when you are on the bench and manu spends too much time on the bench as compared to other real top stars in the league. Duncan has always been the better player. Duncan lead the team as the money player those years.
