    Off topic =

I recently read a book by Stephen King led 11/22/63

It is about time travel and the protagonist goes back in time to 1963 - to see if he could change history - by stopping the Kennedy assassination -
when he gets to 1959,1960,1961 etc...
King describes that time in detail and it is pretty damn cool to reminisce about those times...

    Milk bottles on the porch
Changing the long beams on a car - on the floor board with your left foot

I had forgotten about some of those things - and some were before my time also.

Yes, fantastic book, I have it. He actually does stop the assassination, but then .....
I won't give it away to those who will still read it. But excellent premise.

Cool - do you remember the vivid descriptions of that era?

The taste of a REAL root beer at the drugstore?

Yeah, and I used to have a car way after that that you pushed the buttons to make shift to Drive, neutral, reverse, etc., and the little silver dim and bright floor foot switch. I remember when most commercial airlines were prop planes.

And most drug stores had a full soda counter with stools and booths.

I remember going into the 5 & 10 stores and buying pea shooters, sling shots, etc., and baby chickens or rabbits at Easter Time.

San Antonio had the first big department store in Texas downtown called Joskes, the giant waving Santa sitting on its roof waving, and Fantasy Land on the whole 3rd floor with Santas huge North Pole village every Christmas.

And it was not legal to make left hand turns after stopping at a red light.

And liquor stores did not exist, nor bars, there were "key clubs" where you go and join to drink mixed drinks and hard alcohol.
