Victim blaming - it's a legit question. Quit catching feelings when people point out things that don't make sense. But I agree, you have to be a POS to pick on someone, and an even worse human to continue doing it when you see someone is mentally weak and won't stand up for themselves. Especially when they are your teammate.

you were victim blaming, no feelings being caught, it is what it is. but yea i agree with the rest of your post.

You catching feelings just because I posed a question that many others seem to agree with. It's odd - your first reaction was to call me a monkey for some reason too. I don't know what it is, but you get all flustered when I ask questions. But Incognito got whats coming his way. Just wish it was Martin who laid him out before he gets booted from the league.

You needing to post two different posts (one edited) to that one comment shows exactly what I'm talking about. You caught feelings for some reason. No biggie - happens to everyone from time to time. They aren't dumb nor passive aggressive. Hence several people saying they were thinking the same thing.

You have a some serious feeling caught and you got got.

I honestly wasn't referring to you at all , there were two other notable Fins fans who repeatedly insisted that Jake Long wasn't good anymore and they were glad he's gone.
Iknow, I just got depressed reading that truth you spit. I agree though. Jake would look really good there right now man, huge mistake letting him walk! Also with the corner situation how would Vontae Davis look now too? A few STUPID MISTAKES from a stupid ass team.

That's not the point. The point is you seem to be trying to paint this picture of an educated, supremely talented physical beast is somehow this weakling that didn't have the power to stop himself from getting bullied. Everything else is moot to me. Tipping point or "nervous breakdown" aside, it doesn't make any sense that a person with not only the mental and physical resources to stop whatever he wants, but also the financial resources could allow this to happen for two years.
Just because he's big doesn't mean he can fight, nobody knows how to fight unless you're actually taught to, even Shaq got his ass whooped on by a 140lb Shane Mosley in a boxing match. And it doesn't make any sense to you because anxiety and depression don't allow you to think rationally, which I'm certain he dealt with. Look at Royce White giving up millions of $ and his dream of playing in the nba just because he's too scared to fly, anxiety is that powerful.

And even if he did report it there's no guarantee anything actually happens, aside of him being labeled a snitch not just on his team but around the entire league, then becoming an outcast. Chances are they'd tell him to toughen up, stop crying and he'd be back at square 1. The NFL isn't your regular workplace, it's filled with all the s/jocks, guys that barely made it through high school. And like school there are people being bullied, but won't tell because they're too embarassed.

If he were in fact a perfectly normal man, with no mental problems he'd have stood up for himself and none of this would've happened, however he is not.

The simplest solution is to get rid of the problem. First, kick Incognito out of the league--he sucks, is a dirty player, and he's now a PR disaster. Second, if he's not shunned/shamed out of the league first, then Jonathan Martin should just walk away from the NFL. Life is only going to get harder for him there, and he clearly isn't mentally stable/strong enough to handle the locker room atmosphere. He has a Stanford education (which will open a lot of doors) and a loving, supportive family, so it's not like he's some streethood dumbass who needs the NFL paycheck to keep himself and his family out of the gutter.

Walk away, go to law school (or something else), and come out of the closet when the time is right.

victim blaming aside, how does a person bully, extort and intimidate another person over a 2 year span? you gotta be a real s bag loser to do some like that to a person you know isn't going to fight back.
That's why he did it to him, imo.

I feel badly for Jonathan Martin, tbh. Just because he's huge and plays football doesn't make him an automatic badass. He plays one of the most cerebral, least inherently vicious positions, imo. And I don't doubt Richie Incognito is probably a scary mother er. He's bad news.

The politics of the locker room might have something to do with it, tbh.... Martin probably put up with it as a rookie expecting it to stop after his rookie year, and as we've seen from people like Dez Bryant, rookies who don't submit to hazing are looked upon poorly by their teammates, tbh.... it seems like once it was clear that Incognito wasn't going to stop after all and was ramping up the abuse, Martin finally got fed up and removed himself from the situation....

I disagree that he is "mentally weak," btw.... he was being extorted by his teammates and threatened by one teammate in particular, anyone would eventually get fed up, tbh....

Eventually got fed up? When he realized it wasn't going to stop? Ugh, he should have realized the rookie hazing wasn't going to stop the second it continued when he was no longer a rookie. Not only that, how can you let it go on for an entire year extra before you "break"? He obviously knew there was a serious issue hence him saving texts & voicemails. That's what's odd to me and others. He's well educated, an athletic beast of a man and is in a locker room where the majority of people are African American. How on Earth do you not break dims earlier or seek help or put a stop to it yourself is what escapes me.

He's not to blame & Incogracist is a loser who should be banned, but those are valid questions.

How can anyone make a case for Martin NOT being mentally weak?

Justice will be servrd though and RI rightfully banned. Then Martin will win his lawsuit, move to Fire Island, and write his autobiography

  17. #117
I dunno, like I said earlier, this is clearly a money-grab IMO..

I agree with DPG's points, but I don't think that Martin is mentally weak, I don't think you can be mentally weak and play on the offensive line in the NFL, tbh..

He has lawyer parents, this is clearly an opportunistic move, taking advantage of the stupidity of a White trash redneck, tbh..

If you were an average offensive lineman, only making $400 000 this season, playing a sport and a position where long-term brain injuries are virtually inevitable, and you saw an opportunity to make more money than you ever would playing in the league and you wouldn't have to play this violent sport again, this seems like an easy decision, tbh..

It's very obvious, tbh, but people are afraid to question the motives, as this is a sensitive subject..

Thanks for the great book recommendation, BUMP. This book is paradigm-shifting. It opens your eyes or affirms what you already intuit about the inner lives of animals, and their relationship with us. We are all connected, we are all very much alike (even one celled organisms are driven by EMOTION - Not 'blind, vague instinct'. I suspected as much, haven't you?) which means there is no cause to treat other species with disregard or disdain. We are all cut from the same cloth. There is so much more to this world, and to life, than most acknowledge.

Animals, horses in particular, can teach us much if we just learn to listen.

The Tao o Equus affirms LIFE.

Love it so much I've been buying copies to send to my friends -

Plenty of people do. The fact he is very smart & physically gifted, in addition to being surrounded by African American teammates who surely would have had his back make it odd. He's the victim, but if he was smart enough to save voicemails & texts in addition to being mentally strong enough to go to a great school & make it to the NFL where people/coaches test your mental strength your entire life, how could you let this happen. He doesn't deserve blame - that's not the point of these questions. But they are valid as many others have pointed out both on here and professionally.

Trill just caught feelings because it was DPG asking for some reason.

    Stealing my shine...

Fam - this literally makes no sense. For an educated man, your arguments right now are terrible. First, you deflected my legit question and called me a monkey for no reason. Then, after others started agreeing with my questions, you started saying randomly I was "victim blaming" and asking "stupid passive aggressive questions". Then when African American NFL players themselves start asking those same questions (although I don't agree with Rolle, Martin is not to blame at all), you catch even more feelings and whine about me not giving you dap?

We all know half quoting random sections of a sentence or a post is a silly, intellectually dishonest way to go about things and to be honest, you are catching an abnormal amount of feelings over this. Obviously it was a legit question that many others (including African American NFL players) are asking now and your first response because it was DPG was to call me a monkey and deflect. Makes no damn sense.
