Guys like this don't come often... The nba needs guys like this
Yeah, the NBA definitely needs more scripture and playoff-choking legacies.
More Garnetts would be better, no?
50 went 23/11/3/2 in the Houston series that he is widely criticized for. Olajuwon just went 35/13/5/4.
He was outplayed certainly but its not like he just choked and rolled over. Bass and co never gave DRob the supporting casts that the current regime provides. Houston rolled out Olajuwon/Drexler/Horry/Cassell. Spurs rolled out Robinson/Elliott/Rodman/Del Negro.
How many times did a D-Rob led team lose with HCA?
First ballot HOF player, MVP, 2 time champ and 2 time olympic Champ = Legend... I would say most would take that.Team game, he could not do it with the help he had around him. I guess Charles Smith a few times and Avery Johnson or Del Negro etc. were just so much help! I know he head Elliott but outside of that not much at all.
What did Kirby do with no help? Missed the playoffs or first round exit with a later seed, atleast D Rob and little help got them not only in the playoffs but a high seed.
Yeah, team was good enough ti consistently win 50-55 games, but he couldn't break through a grab bag WC ever. Great player, though. He's the NBA's Tony Romo. Hopefully TR can piggyback for a couple rings in his twilight too
the nba needs families that produce guys like this.
Except for the part about making the playoffs and winning games. Much like teams now winning 50 games in the East it was not nearly as difficult to get above 50 wins in that western conference.
Wow... Drob thread and all the haters come out.... Still mad?
Crofl, what would people be mad about?...other than him devaluing his fans' merch with bible verses, of course
I'd love to have another D Rob. Real talk, I would rather root for a DROb than a Rapist who coattails. Before you say bull , I started liking the Spurs around DRob's time, even though I was a Lakers kid growing up and Lakers were starting to win championships again.
The comparison made below about Tony Romo is interesting, I think both don't have that missing thing that makes them truly elite, but they're very close and having good players around you always helps.
retired too early.
he could have easily played and dominated for 3 or 4 more years. Spurs shurely would have repeat. but oh well. gotta respect the decisions.
So ing cool... I can't believe I am hearing to the one player I love most..
This guy got so much humility.
Thanks man!

exactly. nobody was stopping hakeem that year, but hakeem did not in any way shut down robinson. that is a myth. just like he didn't shut down shaq in the finals. he just played better
are u serious? he was on fumes his last season. defensively he was great help, but this was in no way the same mr robinson..
His back was also flaring up every other game... he pretty much warrior'ed out those '03 playoffs...
Carver academy and his college scholarship program are pretty cool too.
