Mack Brown retirement party sponsored by his best quote

While the "Saban-to-Texas" rumors have been swirling, Mack Brown has turned the Longhorns' season around and now sits in a position to contend for a Big 12 le down the stretch of the regular season.

In an appearance on Friday's edition of the Tim Brando Show, Brown addressed those rumors and reaffirmed his desire to continue leading the Longhorns moving forward.

"Nick is a friend and he's done a tremendous job at Alabama," Brown said. "Nick's not trying to get my job, I mean, I know Nick. So I don't have to worry about that. And if I do my job, there won't be any job to be open to get, so I think that's the other thing."

Powers is letting Mack decide if he wants to announce before or after Baylor and I have been told it will be before, as no one wants to take the chance of doing it in the wake of a bad loss to BU. All indications are it will be the Monday press conference right after Thanksgiving weekend.

This will be my first and only time to post to OrangeBloods.


I just walked out of a meeting with regents Foster, Powell, Hildebrand
as well as Deloss Dodds, Steve Patterson, Bill Powers, a representative for Joe
Jamil (Mr. Jamil was on the phone during the meeting) as well as Mack Brown.




The time line has been set for his retirement and the
announcement will come December 2, 2013 during Mack Brown's press conference
after the players have had their Q&A with the media. Mack will come back out and make the
announcement and take a few questions and then will promptly hand the mic over
to Powers who will go on to say a few nice words about Mack and his career and
how much he meant to us, so on and so on.
Deloss will be sitting there, but wont speak. Patterson will speak next and talk about how
much respect he has for Mack Brown and how he is going to keep Mack in the
program and will be part of the hiring of his replacement. A few details about a retirement celebration
will be given etc.


We also discussed if this announcement should be made now or
later. I was the lone vote for making
the announcement now. I feel that you,
the fans, have a right to know and this will help us rally the fans so to
speak. I didn't win.


I feel this should also be said. Mack Brown was in no way fired. He called the meeting and was not happy with
having to make the decision, but the decision was entirely his. He was not forced out.. He made the
choice and we accepted his resignation and set the plans you've just read.




I'm not posting here for internet points. It doesn't really matter if you believe it or
not, but it's the honest to God truth.

Went to a charity dinner tonight and the guest speakers were Leigh Anne & Sean Tuohy (real couple from the movie The Blindside) and the best quote of the night was, " And you Texas fans, you have no chance of getting Saban!" by Sean. Leigh Ann followed by saying "And trust us, we know Nick very well. He was hired by LSU in our living room."

I guess that is that, we won't be getting Nick Saban because some couple who thinks they are someone due to who they took in is now saying we won't get him.

They need to stick to helping out 300 lb black orphans, and leave the business of big football to the Billionaires.

Not to imply that I think Texas gets Saban or that their family may not get good inside intel. However, if you believe they are best buds with Saban because he recruited Oher or that they were deeply involved in him getting hired by LSU or in their living room or whatever is being implied, well, thank you - because you just made my day.
