Dad Killer is one of the biggest s bags to ever step on an NBA court, tbh..he's a piece of on every level..terrible teammate with poor leadership skills, but benefited from having arguably the greatest combination of body/athleticism/talent, along with playing under Phil Jackson, which masked his flaws as a leader/team player, tbh..

Dad Killer did dominate his ty era and the usual 6'3 perimeter players that would guard him, can't take that away from him, although he did always have the best cast in the league, tbh..

DK was great for the NBA, obviously..his reign at the top was the peak of the NBA's popularity, David Stern/Nike did a masterful job in promoting him as a likeable figure, when in reality, he was an abhorrent human being that would have killed the NBA had the White public known about his real personality..

He was horrible for the NBA after he retired, obviously..he spawned an era of iso players like Kobe, McGrady, Carter, Iverson, Carmelo, etc, with only Kobe having success, and he didn't win les in the same way Jordan did, which is virtually impossible, since only DK had the combination of individual traits + cir stances to win that way IMO..this didn't stop the imitation failures, though..

Luckily, the NBA has changed in the Lebron era, yet there are many delusional fans that still hate..our current NBA has reverted to basketball in it's greatest form, promoting teamwork and unselfishness, with Miami and San Antonio leading the way, tbh..the other superstars at the top, like Durant/Paul, are also promoting unselfishness and team play, tbh..

The best teams in the NBA, Miami/SA/Indiana/Golden State/Clipps/Chicago, are all unselfish teams that promote defense and ball movement, tbh..

    wow

lots of tears in this thread. MJ was a bully and a meany

I blame it on stern for pussifying the NBA and its fans in the process

that's why the NBA in such a sorry state IMO. NBA players worry more about what they gonna wear at the podium, some afraid to step on a court (Rose) and others enjoying getting spanked butt naked in the lockerroom by other grown men

I can just imagine the reaction in today's NBA lockerroom if a trio of prime Jordan, Oakley and Cartwright walked in

agree. the pussification campaign of the nba included genocide on the prototypical big bruiser

NBA wants scoring. Stern did not give a about anything but scoring, scoring scoring. unfortunately the product that came out of it is . just look at the 22 complete teams the NBA is composed of.

It's funny how everyone in the mainstream media is dogmatically infatuated with Jordan to the point that they are afraid of dissenting from the popular opinion that he is unquestionably the GOAT. And it's ing bull . Someone in the mainstream media should come out and admit that they hate Jordan as a person and that he might not be the GOAT. There is no "sacrilege" here. It's ing basketball. There is no right answer. And there are a lot of valid reasons for saying he is not the GOAT (summarized pretty well by Harlem Heat above). I want someone in the mainstream media to say something similar, perhaps in a more diplomatic fashion.

I always call Kobe a sociopath, which he obviously is, but I've always given MJ the benefit of the doubt since he was my favorite player after Magic and I owned tons of Air Jordan as a youth. But it's pretty obvious the guy was a ed up individual in retrospect. I've also believed his gambling led to his father's death.

I thought his HOF speech was horrible. I know Phil Jackson liked it, felt like it was pure MJ, but to me, he was drunk as and still nursing grudges, making mountains out of molehills. just not something you would expect at the moment of enshrinement.

MJ was phenomenal to watch, the real deal on the court unlike Rapist in LA. I still think MJ was the best and worst thing to happen to basketball. Best because he was electric, made the sport blow up overseas, but bad because the league went out of its way to protect its biggest asset. Both on the court and off, the league went too far and set a bad precedent imo.
Mike came along at the right time, when Bird and Magic were fading, when Dr J was in the past, the league needed a superstar and there were no real ones. I mean, who really thinks Isiah Thomas, Dominique Wilkins, Patrick Ewing or Charles Barkley are superstars in the NBA? They are great players, great personalities, but Mike was a superstar of the Bird/Magic/Dr J caliber and beyond.

Isiah didn't change the game of basketball. He was a great player, but he wasn't anywhere near Michael on the global stage.

Until they won a ring then he'd fire the head coach so he could pretend to coach a winning team.

I'm not talking about talent, but popularity on a world stage. Jordan was the next Dr J. Lebron was the next Jordan. Kobe tried to fill Jordan's shoes but because he was usurped by the most dominant big man since Wilt, and maybe the most dominant presence in the game in 30 years or more, he was relegated to copying Jordan's nuances. He accepted a beta role for several years of his career.

sorry but this is plain silly, in terms of popularity on a world stage, Dr J and Lebron cannot even be in the same sentence as Jordan.

there was NOBODY before Jordan, and NOBODY after Jordan as far as the world is concerned. The entire world paused to see Jordan's play, and once Jordan retired, the world has yet to take another look at the NBA.

yeah, sure the NBA is making some inseams in the world stage now, but it is all to the foundation that Jordan put. That plus the masterful move to include the dream team in the olympics. But still, even today, NBA popularity is nothing in the world stage compared to Jordan years.

I'll put it this way. Choose any random big city in the world, you go ask 10 ppl in the street if they know the names Michael Jordan and Lebron James.

without a shred of doubt in my mind I can tell you at least 7 out of 10 ppl will know who Jordan is. Lebron, on the other hand, 2 at most 3 out of 10.(and that's being nice)

Have to admit MJ is one of the most iconic athletes in history along the likes of Babe Ruth, Mohammed Ali, and Michael Phelps

I wasn't comparing them. I said Jordan was the next Dr J and Lebron the next Jordan on the world stage. That doesn't mean they are better than MJ, but that they are the face of the NBA on the world stage. The NBA didn't come into it's on globally until the Dream Team tour.

A lot of stupid being said around here tbh. Jordan would be dead IRL if he wasn't a basketball player. He does not have the Personality to be an alpha male IRL when gets tough and he can no longer use status. If a group of people are stuck in an Island Micheal Jordan would be the last person I would listen to, he would be the last person any person with dignity should listen to..IRL he's that guy that thinks he's the but get's curbstopmed by some dude.

Alpha has nothing to do with being a ing a-hole. Alpha has a lot to do with respect. Respect is what gets you "Genuine" leadership..MJ is a leader only because he's the best player in the team and the Media hyped him to be some sort of God..Yeah he's the GOAT. But he's not an Alpha male.

He's a product of face. An ego made by fame..

He's no better than a got like Justin Bieber...
