Tonight was billed as Newton's coming out party from the start. There's no way the league was going to let the Pats win like that. Horrible screwjob.
I'm not a Patriots fan in any way, they're also competing with my team for seeding, but that was a horrendous no-call..
The guy on MNF that said it was a good call works for the NFL, of course he's going to agree with the call on National Tv, tbh..
The ball was definitely potentially catchable, how is Gronkowski supposed to come back to the ball when he's literally being held back by the linebacker?..

It's so ing ironic you are defending the Patriots and calling this a screwjob when they have been CAUGHT cheating and filming teams playcall signals.
You guys must hate Carolina that ing bad
Can't wait to see your rankings Harlem <3
What does New England's past have to do with tonight's game?..
Terrible no-call, but has no control over that. He played his balls off and deserved the win. Also, Gerry Austin (ESPN's version of Mike Pereira), has never disagreed with an official's call since he joined the booth--even when they were egregiously wrong.
so now we as fans have come to accept and even expect a PI call to bail out the bad throw?
these refs deserve an award IMO. nothing pisses me off more in football than the terrible throw, WR breaks towards it, runs into DB, Pass Interference
Edit: and I was rooting for the Pats, got Gronk on my fantasy team, and I hate Cam Newton
It was a terrible throw, but it was also a horrible play/decision from the linebacker, tbh..
I feel bad for Harlem's power rankings, tbh. Panthers keep climbing.
Former NFL officiating supervisor Jim Daopoulos:
Austin is incorrect with his explanation...that ball was catchable and saying it was uncatchable is incorrect
I feel bad for Hoop Czar's sports opinions. They keep falling.
I thought Carolina would win tonight, but that should have been a call even if it was likely Gronk wasn't gonna get the ball. By the rules, it should have been a PI.
There's a reason why he's a FORMER officiating supervisor tbqh.![]()
They keep falling? You mean like the Lakers, Bills and Panthers? That's a whole lot more to be sorry for.
does look uncatchable tbh![]()
anything within 7-8 feet of gronk is a catchable ball. if he doesn't get held there he at least would have a chance at it.
that was the joke
Luke has a habit of this, see the Bills game earlier this year. Was it a catchable ball? Probably not. It likely would've still been intercepted. Who am I to say though? He could've made a half ass attempt at it. But, Cam finally came through in a big game, down the stretch against a quality opponent. Props there. Vereen looks good, I'm glad I have him in fantasy. He and Moreno should have nice games next week, especially for PPR leagues tbh. I'm starting them both.
Which call/No call was worse? NO/SF, or NE/CAR? I say the former.
rofl acting like a missed holding call is in the same ballpark. There's blatant holding on every play in the NFL so if you want to play that game you're going down a very slippery slope. There generally isn't blatant pass interference where the flag is thrown and then picked up in most NFL games so try a little harder, doggie.
They were both awful and the refs who worked both games should be held accountable with fines and/or suspensions.
The latter was definitely more significant. The Saints would have won the game regardless of that penalty. They had 3+ minutes left in the game and Saints had all 3 of their timeouts, and the 49ers had 0 first downs in the 4th Quarter. With Kaep under center, the Saints would have easily stopped the 49ers for a 3 and out, got the ball back, and the way Brees was carving up that 49ers defense all game, they would have drove down and scored anyway.
