did they at least get an explanation?
since I see a lot of crying over the missed call on Gronk, how do people feel about that Ahmad Brooks hit on Brees?
If you didn't see it, here's the gif.
Nyqil spokesman/stunt double for Peter Dinklage got ing rocked, coughed up the ball and should've been ball game. But since it's the NFL where prima donna QBs must be protected, and it's a home game, you knew they weren't going to let this stand.
Do you think Niners got robbed or was this proper call for today's flag/ football? 10 years ago this would've been an iconic play but now it's something Goodell wants to legislate out of the game. How, i'm not sure, but curious what people think.
btw don't worry about Brees, he was perfectly fine after the game.

they said it was a hit or clothelines on his neck, which is debatable as it was a straight up tackle but Brees neck bends towards it. I think that's code for Brees sells a lot of product for the NFL, neal with it. Here is what Brooks had to say....
Brooks is dropping truth bombs and will probably be punished for it.“I didn’t hit him with my hand or my helmet,” Brooks said, via the San Francisco Chronicle. “I basically bear-hugged him. That’s just how football is played. I think this s— is b——-. Football, the way they call stuff these days, it’s watered down. It ain’t real no more. … “It was at home. It was Drew Brees. And maybe the officials were for the New Orleans Saints a little bit more than the 49ers. I think it’s B.S., man.”
looking at that gif, its definitely a legal hit. tbh, you guys got robbed.
Lame call especially considering it probably would've been a no call if Brees wasn't a midget.
Legal hit. Pussification of the league continues, etc.
Legal hit, but karma for the 49ers officiating gift in week 1 that was admitted by the NFL, tbh..
Illegal hit according to the rules. Bad rule probably, but still no can dispute that it's an illegal hit according to the rule. Game still wasn't over yet anyway. Saints had 3 timeouts and the two minute warning and most likely would have gotten the ball back for one more possession.
Still the Saints dominated the game and the only reason it was close was due to the gift points the Saints gave the 49ers. Only way the 49ers can ever beat the Saints is if the Saints commit a bunch of turnovers. Saints are a better team period. Defense is almost as good and the Saints have a much better offense.
The 49ers lost the game because they were dominated on the field and outgained 387-196 in total yards. They also lost the game because Frank Gore dropped a downfield pass that could have been a TD. They also lost the game because their QB threw for 127 passing yards the entire game. The refs also missed an obvious intentional grounding in the endzone that cost the Saints 2 points. Those are the reasons that the 49ers lost the game. The box score clearly shows that the much better team won the game.
Except kaep was out of the tackle box, watch it again
Yeah I think Kaep was barely out of the tackle box, by like a feet or so. Either way, he still sucks.
it's cute how you 40whiner fans (and Ray the murderer Lewis) are only showing that one gif that only shows the initial impact and doesn't show the entire hit. how convenient! if that was all that happened then I would agree with you.
here is the truth though ...
it could have even been called a face mask penalty as well.
cmon son, you know that if Saints had put that hit on Cam Newton or Matty Ice, and then punished for causing a fumble with a great hit, you would be screaming conspiracy theory against Goodell.
can't have it both ways.
sounds like Midget is using his acting skills to lobby for the penalty.
I personally believe this was a worse call than the patriot's, but I am biased tbh. Either way, the Goodell Era continues its march towards shadiness and tiness."I don't think what Ahmad Brooks did was intentional at all," Brees said. "I think he's a heck of a football player and a clean football player. A hard-nosed, clean football player. But you look at the result of that … and again in real-time … You can slow it down all you want and watch it and say, 'Look where the (arm is).' But I can tell you how I felt when I got hit. It felt like I got my head ripped off. And I get up and I've got a mouth full of blood. So there was no doubt in my mind that, 'Hey, it's gonna be a penalty.'
The midget theory does make sense, as he has the strike zone of a child. I still think it was a legal hit as well. I remember when Peyton got his neck bent backwards by Phillip Daniels, that was way more egregious and I don't even think that was flagged. In that instance, Daniels held onto his neck all the way til that bent backwards, which led to his subsequent surgery. Brooks just hit Dinklage Brees, Brees neck goes into his arm as he falls down. is just getting unreal. Good to see nonNiner fans protest it though.
Oh please you're one to talk ... The homecooking you guys received in the 2011 NFC championship game was downright shameful. See... Two can play the blame game.
Regardless it was an illegal take down. The initial impact is not the issue. The take down grabbing and holding onto Brees's helmet and bending his neck backwards is the issue.
Regardless it wouldn't have mattered anyways because the Saints outplayed the 49ers by far (twice as many yards, first downs, etc.).... If it wasn't for the ridiculous Saints turnovers it would have been a 3 or 4 score beat down. Saints left 21 points on the board and handed the 49ers 14. Lol Cap had 10 and 21 yard drives to work with.
I got hit so hard I knew it had to be a flag

Brooks fined 15,750. Will Ray Ray honor his statement?
how anyone can look at the full hit (not just the trendy GIF going around that doesn't show the entire hit) and not agree that penalty was justified is just being absurd.
I agree 100% that the way NFL quarterbacks are protected nowadays gets a bit out of hand, but this was not one those examples. the initial impact is perfectly fine with me. it's the holding on to Brees's helmet and facemask resulting in bending his neck backwards all the way to the ground that is the problem.
If Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, or Aaron Rodgers had been hit that way ... not only would there be an even bigger fine involved, but the player would be suspended and the NFL would have their talking heads going crazy about it. ESPECIALLY if it had happened to Manning who just came off of neck surgery.
Ray Lewis won't honor his statement I'm sure because doesn't he have outstanding child support payments to make for all of his bas kids?
crofl BR crying. if this happens against his saints hed still cry about goodell and pussification of the league. don't be a homer son. nobody is saying that the saints deserved to lose. just that that call was whack. kaepernick probably woulda 3&outed the next drive anyway....
