Tbh, his receivers have dropped a bunch of passes...except for that TD he just threw.

tech was not supposed to be a big XII contender this year but they have had a good season. i think they can contend for the big XII next year.
2007 Michigan (lol Appalachian State)
2012 Notre Dame
South Florida got to #2 in the polls at one point during the 2007 season. That was a travesty.
Yes they were the worst top 10 team of all time. I said this when the ranking came out. Still impressive that Kingsbury was able to climb that high in his first season. Although recruiting doesn't seem to be benefiting.
TT reaching #10 was a travesty as well imo.
And IIRC weren't a lot of the teams ahead of USF faltering that year. This year TT got there on their own "merit", with wins over the likes of WV, Tx St and SFA.
didn't niu play in the orange bowl last year and get mashed?
USC being pre-season #1 last year and ending unranked was pretty impressive.
Yeah, that was the year LSU won the BCS le with two losses. Missouri was at the top of the polls going into the conference championship games. It was a messy year.
One year in the late '90s- 1999, maybe- Arizona started the season in the top five and ended up going 5-6. And Notre Dame was top-ranked early in Gerry Faust's first season (1980 or '81) and ended up 5-6. So there are a lot of examples.
even if you weren't up on your college football history, it's not terribly difficult to research just how many mediocre teams have cracked the top ten at one point or another.
, Tech cracked the top ten in 2004 (or was it '06) before getting their asses kicked in Austin, finishing with the usual 7-5/8-4 type of record.
