But even in the post he's not that big and strong for a SF, he knows how to play in the post to exploit mismatches like in the GS series but I don't see a dominant post player at the 3, actually I see him get pushed around by the bigger SF that post him defensively... I think we're seeing his limitations and I'm not sold that he can break the wall and get to the next level... I love him but you're right he's kinda overrated because of how young and likable he is.
I think Kawhi will be all right in the post since we're seeing the league trend more to smaller players. If he can get crafty, he has the length and body control to finish over and around most big players. And he has the strength to take smaller wings already. It's not like he's a weakling.

I also think he should work in setting screens. If a beanpole like Durant can do it, Kawhi should be able to as well. A Parker/Leonard PnR would be pretty cool to see.

I hope he makes it. I think he can grow into something special. He's only 22. Players don't normally peak until they're 26, 28 or so... he doesn't have one dominant aspect that screams "franchise", like Lebron's athleticism or Timmy's skill when they walked into the league. Then again, non top-10 picks rarely do. He's surrounded by players that understand the game and that can only help him. He's definitely the guy to keep an eye on as far as development is concerned.

I mean, if he does make it, it probably means he had a better season than Lebron or Durant or Paul George... that would spell good news for the Spurs. Who wouldn't want that?

So? Neiher Tony nor Manu was ever in first-team, but the Spurs won 3 champions with them.
Parker should have been first team in the last couple of years. Awards like these are meanigless.

Pretty sure we all WANT it, Nono. , I'd love to see Kawhi challenge for top three player in franchise history. It's more about whether we should be projecting him to reach that goal. I don't see it. He has a chance at All-Defense or third team, All-NBA or even second if Davis starts getting in at center. There's nothing wrong with being a lesser star like Iggy or Zach Randolph.

Iggy and Randolph are not on the same level, Randolph was pretty much the first banana on a contender or close enough...

The Grizzlies are only contenders because of Gasol. I agree that Zach is probably a stronger star than Iggy, but the only year Z-Bo was clearly their best player, Memphis only managed the eighth seed.

But they got to play their whole nba career with someone who did, Pop did say that he could become "the face of the franchise", sounds like the Spurs are gonna become the Denver Nuggets if that's the case...

There's a good chance the Spurs can get another guy to pair with him.

And Kobe had zero First Team nods before Shaq left IIRC.

There are better guards than Tony, like Derrick Rose or Rusell Westbrook and even Chris Paul. All of them average more or less the same points per game but MORE ASSISTS. All NBA Second Team is OK for TP.

Well I just mean in general, a long 2 is the most inefficient shot on the court.

Shooting 47% from mid range is equivalent (exactly) to shooting 31.3% from 3 point range. Both will net you the same number of points. If he's going to take long 2s from mid range he might as well spot up from 3, let others create for him, and take a more efficient shot. I know he he's capable of breaking 31.3% from 3 point land to make it worth it.
He doesn't take many long range two's. If he does, he likely stepped on the 3pt line. He's not Michael Beasley. His mid range in usually in the 15-18 feet. He is an above average midrange shooter and long range shooter too (This season, has been rough to start granted).

Its highly debatable whether Westbrook is a better PG. He consistently shoots in the low 40% range while Parker usually finishes above 50%FG. Parker averaged 20 ppg last season while playing just 32 mpg. Westbrook does get to the line like crazy though.

No ? He has to compete with LeBron and Durant now and Durant for his whole career.

You're not exactly going out on a limb here.

You're falling into his trap. Badmouthing Nando does nothing to stir PlayNando's emotions.

All-NBA is a reach, let's focus on helping the team through the system with solid D, and the corner 3. If he happens to attend a few All-Star games, great, the coaches would have to vote him in which isn't unrealistic.

He went on record after he attended the All-Star festivities as a rookie as "wanting to attend the All-Star game every year" - At ude is the start, and who is to say that isn't an attainable goal for him if he continues to stay humble and work hard?

Like I said, PlayNando is die hard Manu fan and if you want to rile him up you should talk about how Manu single-handedly cost us game 6, for example or how he's a TOSB who will never sniff 45% (FG%) ever again because his shooting is atrocious.

Kawhi will NEVER make First Team All-NBA
That's probably because he's playing in the Lebron era.

Wow, what a bold ing prediction!

Nando will never make first team all D-League
No, because, he won't play in the D-League. He will make a very good starting PG in Europe, though. The Spurs will miss him once they see what he does over there and we'll all realize that he TRULY was the one that got away.......

That's about right. He still could make the all star team sometime in the future. He doesn't have to be a top 5 player in the league, if the Spurs can get a couple more players like him they can continue to be a top playoff team.

Kawhi still makes the spurs first team before Nando does though.
