If we prorate this season, we're on pace to win about 75 games... (subtract two games for possible resting of players) but I think if the Pacers keep winning, Pop will keep playing everyone since we need home court advantage in the finals (even more so now since they switched to the 2-2-1-1-1 format).
In any case, the Spurs 2nd unit is better than most teams haha.
The last team to win at least 70 games in a season (the 1996 Bulls) went on to win the le.
I'm seeing so many similarities between us and the Bulls and of course the 1984-1985 Celtics (that lost in the finals) and came back as one of the greatest teams (1986 Celtics) of all-time. If anyone here has read "The Book of Basketball" by John Hollinger, he wrote a section about the "best teams" of all time and how they had one similarity... they lost and had a bitter taste in their mouths and came back the next year and obliterated the compe ion

If I had to guess, I'd say we'll win 53-55 games for the 2nd seed.
Only if Duncan keeps up his stellar play
Every team will have slumps during the season. Just hope for the Spurs it's not at the end of the year like last season. Plus Pop will rest players and keep experimenting with line ups as the season progresses. I don't think they even care about chasing the all time best record.
Don't care about breaking the record. Just want 5.
I agree.I would hope they would get towards 58-60 Wins in reality, that 53-55 is usually a 3rd to 5th seed type. That will not be good enough.
Pop will tank.
if we stop coasting. maybe.
lol... this topic has the potencial
True. Spurs should at least get 58 wins+ to secure a top 3 seed.
I've said from the start that this team is winning 70 games.
After what happened in the Finals last year, the pain of losing is just too much for them. They're going to win as many as they possibly can this year.
I would be happy with 55 to 60 wins this season. It's a great start to the season at 11-1![]()
Doesn't matter. No one cares about preseason records. Just win the last game of the season that really counts.![]()
Shhh. Just let the Spurs do their thing
