Wrong stat. FGA is all that matters.
Wrong stat. FGA is all that matters.
When no one on his team is allowed to complain about that issue, he's given the green light to jack up as many shots as he feels content with, tbh. It's rare for a guard to shoot above .500 though.
Kobe shoots 46% and shoots 20 shots a game. that's damn good ma ol'sport
but.....
Michael Jordan shot 50% ing percent and shot 23 shots a game![]()
GOAT = MJ
this pretty much ends it
Caprisun Man avoiding this thread like a job interview.
How many at .500?
37.5% is pathetic timvp. You can'tdet sammich
Kobe's never shot 47% once, much less 50%. Outside of his first two seasons (41-42%), he's shot between 43-46.8% his whole career. That's not horrible or anything, just not eye popping.
You could say, "well at least he's never dropped off much from his norm'", but the problem is he's typically always shot right around or below league average from the field and almost always below league average from three.
So in the end, his percetages aren't at all impressive regardless of his number of FGAs. Technically you could have statistically gotten the same production from the rest of the team had he not taken as many shots (based on league average, or even Lakers' team average. Feel free to compare to either). The only thing that really puts Kobe above other players offensively (from a statistical standpoint) is drawing fouls and hitting the three throws. He draws a lot of fouls and hits free throws at a very solid rate.
But yeah, overall his offensive efficiency isn't exactly legendary. Still a good player though, just not some kind of all time hero. Most of his scoring comes sheerly because of mass attempts, not being efficient. AI could fill it up too, but he sure as missed a lot.
Summary: You could have installed just about any average ball handler with average shooting skills and told him to chuck to win 5 championships in LA on the teams he won them on? I guess he was good in the clutch.

Silly thread. Sometimes the difference between 50% and 45% is one FG. For example, 10/20 = 50%, right? What about 9/20? You guessed it: 45%. You classholes making a big deal out of a missed FG or two here and there. Never mind that Kobe is frequently given the ball with < 3 seconds left on the shot clock. Then he's asked to shoot over triple teams. We know he has no fear and has made some of the most difficult shots we've ever seen. Truth be told, I think he could give two s about his FG%.
Funny how simple math escapes most of you farmers. Kobe is a scorer, unlike most prominent SGs, who are pure shooters (although he does own an NBA record for 3s made in a game: 12). Reggie, Ray Allen, Dale Ellis - players like that come to mind. Only MJ himself can be considered better at SG, FG% be damned. And again, I don't think he gives a about it.
Has his FG% ever kept him off of all NBA teams? What about all star games? Will Kobe not be a 1st ballot HOFer? Wade's FG% was higher last couple of years. Which one was all NBA 1st team? Funny how even now in his 18th campaign, how he hasn't played one minute this year, that he's still the topic of most ST hatred. You'd swear that he took a in y'all cornfields the way you farmhands talk about him.
Then again, maybe it's something else... Me thinks this thread may be another way of coping with 6. Maybe it's therapeutic or some . I don't know. You have to talk about something to pacify the fact that you guys were 28.2 seconds away from glory. 28.2 seconds away from 5=5. 28.2 seconds from a perfect Finals record. 28.2 seconds is not that long when you think about it. Maybe if Turnobli (AKA Manure) didn't reappear in the clutch. Maybe if Pop left Tammy in the game - which would have prevented Bosh e from grabbing the ORB and subsequent kick out to RA for The Shot! heard around world. It just wasn't meant to be. Instead, you'll be forever on the butt end of 5>4 jokes. Neal with it sons.![]()
Nah, not in the least.![]()
It's indeed very rare. Recently only Nash and Parker have been consistently in this territory.
Truth be told, his fg% really isn't THAT bad.
Since 1977-78, there has been 133 player seasons where a player shot more than 20FG a game and played 50 or more games. Kobe's best season shooting wise was 08-09 where he shot .467 with MVPau getting all those double teams. That would have ranked him 74 out of those 133 player seasons.
For comparisons sake, Lebron James, who is clearly a much better player than Kobe had a season where he shot .472 from the field and ranked 67 out of those 133 player seasons. While that was Kenton's worst season shooting wise, We have to keep in mind that Kobe's best was almost as good as Lebrons worst, and that is an accomplishment in itself.
You have to respect Kobe. His best season was almost as good as Lebrons second season in the league as a 20 year old.
Doesn't shoot 50% all year but when he plays verse the spurs in the playoffs he does LOL
Jordan, Lebron, Durant etc were also given the ball with < 3 seconds left and didnt need the EXCUSES you give Kobe.
Explain that.
"asked to shoot over triple teams" with his teammates wide ass open.
Career playoff average vs the spurs: 25 PPG on 48% shooting imho.
Plus lol @ Jimbo Jimaveraging 11.5 points on 11.5 attempts and 39% shooting
6 really did a number on the cuck![]()
son, you need to learn to just give up when faced with a smarter, more prepared adversary.
