According to Hubie Brown, Spurs are currently coasting at 70% and Duncan has not even bothered to show up yet. If Hubie is right, and let's be honest with ourselves, when is Hubie ever NOT right? If Hubie is right, we can easily achieve 72-74 wins even with Pop's tank jobs.

Then once playoffs come along Spurs can finally turn it up to 90-95ish percent and easily win out the playoffs.
Damn if I would've known hubie was doing the game last night I would've tuned in to ESPN!!

A few years ago didn't we start off something like 28-4? Something crazy. I think it was when we tied the bulls for #1 overall.

If anyone has a chance of matching that mark I'd probably say Indiana. They've been pretty hot so far, and they have the biggest advantage of all: the Eastern Conference. The West is stacked with serious talent and the East is just a joke.

    Seriously. Check the standings.

There are only four teams in the East that have a winning record (Indiana at 11-1, Miami at 9-3, Atlanta at 8-5 and Chicago at 6-5). The next best record is Toronto at 6-7. That means if the playoffs started today the East would feature four teams with losing records. Yikes.

The West by comparison currently has tons more depth. Nine teams have winning records, and another two are .500 teams. That means that of 15 teams in the conference only four have losing records. That's some serious depth.

So Indiana featuring an East-heavy schedule seriously favors them.
Indy still has these games left: 4 MIA, 2 SA (second on b2b), 2 OKC (one the night after Spurs and the other two days after Miami), 2 LAC, 2 HOU, 2 GS, 1 MEM when Gasol is likely back. Luckily only two on back-to-backs, but that's 15 games we can assume they're likely to split (say 8-7). I doubt they're going 51-3 in those other remaining games.

And as you said, would be very tough for Spurs to do given the West compe ion and travel.

Too complicated and too many distractions for any team now to accomplish the 72-10 feat by the Bulls.

Agreed. There's not really anything to gain by it. Jordan was on a mission because he'd come back from his g̶a̶m̶b̶l̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶s̶u̶s̶p̶e̶n̶s̶i̶o̶n̶ t̶i̶m̶e̶ ̶w̶i̶t̶h̶ ̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶f̶a̶m̶i̶l̶y̶ minor-league baseball career and had something to prove to the world.

I'm not honestly saying I think Indiana will do it. I'm just saying if I was going to put my money on anybody it would be them. Or Miami. Strength of schedule in the East just makes that grind that much more manageable.

    People need to stop.

It will never happen, again. At least not in the foreseeable future.

One reason, once a team makes the playoffs, the coach will always ease off the throttle and sit key players. Jackson didn't, hence the record.

    This.

As of now, I'm predicting a 59-23 season with First in the West. Finishing the season 47-22 seems much more likely than 60-9.

I think that's a bit pessimistic. Barring a rash of injuries, the Spurs will probably win 60-65 games and be #1 seed in the West.

Yeah, that's fair enough. I just know how much Pop loves tanking games, And with 69 left it's hard for me to imagine Spurs only losing about 15-17 of them. But I'm sure I'll be eating crow by season's end

With most of the rest of the league kind of down right now, I'd be surprised if the Spurs lose more than 20 games.

    We'll see...

LOL at those who ridiculed and criticized our bench at the beginning of the season. Now they've hopped on the Backup Bandwagon.

You need to get your glasses checked. You might need a new prescription.
