Any forum I've visited with a rep system, the rep system is played by the largest clique. They just rep each other non stop until it maxes out. That makes the concept of it void of purpose. There is a virtual rep system in play already; it's called "don't respond".
When you respond, you bump the post and that's what the OP wants. In essence, you're approving of the thread just by ing about it.
