Pop wanted him to admit that certain players on the team (Green and Ginobili) were "better" than him, and he said that being the compe or that he is, he refused to admit it.

Jax didn't get let go for not admitting others were better. No coach wants their player to kowtow to another player. He was let go for something much more immediate, possibly the rumor about the ex-wife is true and RC and Pop knew it would kill the team instantly. You don't release a player just shy of the playoffs. There's no obvious reason to. Certainly TMac wasn't any ing help.
