Well, they WERE 28 secs away from winning a le with Green starting at SG, so yes it can happen. Plus this team is deeper than last year with Diaw 2.0 and Belinelli...

Green is paid and expected to shoot threes and play defense, not dribble around and make plays. Yeah he should be better at it, but no we don't need him to be.
Try remembering how he shat all over the Miami Heat in the Finals last year, breaking records and even being considered for Finals MVP in a non joking way through the first 5 games. Not bad for a roleplayer who can't dribble a basketball.
Rasho was a center, though, tbh. It was okay.
The difference between SG and SF are generally minimal. SFs are usually bigger and play more off ball but they still play on the wing. Dribbling the ball is something they should at least know how to do.
Yeah, Green's a much better shooter.
Yes, Parish with the Celtics. Wallace with the Pistons. Bowen/Nzar/Elson with the Spurs.
And those Bowen highlights looks exactly the way Green plays. Green can dribble around a guy who charges him at the 3 pt line and make a layup or dunk. I have seen him do this dozens of time. But Green can't take someone directly off the dribble. Green plays well in the Spurs system and that is all he has to do at this point.
Besides the PG position most teams only have a few guys who are above average ball handlers. OKC has Westbrook,Durant. The Clippers have CP3 and Crawford. The Warriors have Stephen Curry, Iguodala. The Pacers have Hill and Paul George. You are rarely going to find a team that has more than 2 guys who have great handles. If Green had great handles he would be an all-star player but that could be applied to a majority of players in this league . My point is you are wishing and hoping for Green to be more than what he is.
Say what you want about Bowen. We haven't won a thing since he left. Championship, ship, or boat.

That sad, sad moment where Shaq is a better ball-handler than Green.

truth ^
it's pretty pathetic that homies have to bring up Centers and HOF defenders to make Green look somewhat less pathetic![]()
I wouldn't go so far as to say that Green will or has cost us a championship, but it is absolutely true that I cringe every time he tries to put the ball on the floor.
Let's face it guys, this is another example of how the system makes some role players look immensely better than they would in a different system, or playing one on one. Catch and shoot guys look terrific in a system where the point guard is taking it upon himself to drive into the paint where all the bigs live and forcing them to pay attention to him. Making shots in that situation, as Parker does (third season in a row leading all pgs with points in the paint) all the time, really frees up the perimeter shooters to catch and shoot.
As more teams figure out how to defend us (our system hasn't changed in the last 6 years at least), our approach becomes more and more defensible, meaning that our perimeter guys who have made a living looking good off of our pg's penetrations need to be able to dribble occasionally and get their own shot. When that happens, their shortcomings, whether it is Kawhi or Danny, are exposed.
excellent points
It's true this season we have shed Neal who was another catch and shoot 1 trick pony, replaced him with Bellinelli who can put the ball on the floor at will. Also Diaw has been putting the ball on the floor a lot more this season and he's pretty good at it. The main conundrum now is, should we be giving Green the minutes and starting job he's earned? or should we realize we have a Ferrari on the bench that should be taking most his minutes and starting?
the problem with putting the Ferrari on the starting lineup is that you end up with Turnobili of 2013 again
so that's the choice:
- start the inept dribbler and leave the Ferrari on the bench
vs.
- start the Ferrari and face the return of Turnobili
my opinion? I think we need a trade fellas
Your opinions are usually terrible, to be fair..
And Neal is a catch and shoot player and Beli isn't?..86% of Beli's points have been assisted this season..
Teams are going to adjust to the Spurs' system?..why would everything change all of a sudden?..
Belli has put the ball on the floor successfully more times in 2 months than Neal in 2 years. And Neal is a catch and shoot player and Beli isn't?..86% of Beli's points have been assisted this season..
get back to work fluffy, Lebron's is going flaccid![]()
Oberto couldn't dribble a basketball either.
Bowen couldn't dribble.
And Bowen was no SG. A guard should be able to dribble.
by guy I meant guard fellas
although the jury is still out whether Danny is better dribbler than Oberto, Rasho + Bowen.
