The Wizards have the 3rd best record in the East at 9-9![]()
There are only two legitimately bad teams in the West (Kings and Jazz). Everyone else is within a game of .500 or better.
Meanwhile in the East there are only two legitimately good teams![]()

The Heat are dominating with Pacers being the only challenger, so the other eastern teams are just quitting tbh.
The Pelicans would currently be the #3 seed in the East at 9-8. They are the #10 seed in the West.
time to abolish the whole eastern western conference playoff system??
It is sad when the 6-10 raptors team leads their division.
That's ing shameful. Terrible, terrible teams.
Although I would put the Heat, Pacers above any team in the West (except the Spurs). And no, the Blazers.
, division winners are guaranteed a playoff spot regardless of their ty record right?
Even better: Division winners are guaranteed of a 1-4 seed. Homecourt can switch, though.
Absolutely. The whole idea of dividing teams between East and West is entirely arbitrary and maintaining it at this point would only be detrimental to the league.
Heat and Pacers going to rack up 65+ wins this season playing against the East tbh
The NBA should ditch the East/West format and change to a baseball/football-style alignment, tbh.... just have an "American" conference and a "National" conference, tbh....
Can't, the east teams on top would have inflated records due to playing shorty teams 4,times a year instead of 2
Football has 16 games a year, NBA has 82, have to take travel into account
Agree. Its stupid IMO. Put the best 16 teams in the playoffs regardless of conference. I don't like the idea of say Minnesota, New Orleans and the Lakers missing post season action only to see the Bobcats and Chicago make it due to that stupid conference accord.
I don't have a problem with it. I rather have 2 teams feud every year in the same conference final, than keeping those rivalrys from happening.
49-win 08 Warriors missing the playoffs, but 37-win Hawks making it![]()
Chicago is well coached team. Not their fault that Rose rushed his comeback.
And they took the Celts to 7 games.![]()
There's only 2 good teams in the East anyways. And the Heat were 25-5 against the West last year. But I guess you're saying they'd have to rearrange the games, which is true.
I don't think it's a big deal, that's the price of having more talent in the West. How many stars are in the East, seriously?
You're confusing "stacked" with "compe ive."
"Stacked" implies that there are lots of good/great teams that are all playoff contenders. This really isn't the case, as only 3 or 4 teams have a chance at making the Finals.
"Compe ive" means there are lots of teams of roughly the same quality, which results in everyone having a similar record. Same quality doesn't mean high quality, though. There are just a lot of mediocre teams in the West. The East, by contrast, is much less compe ive. Two teams are taking the lion's share of wins, and the rest simply can't keep afloat.
You're confusing "making the playoffs" with "making the Finals". The West is absolutely stacked. There's 13 playoff quality teams in the West. There's maybe 4 in the East, depending on how Chicago responds to another Rose injury. In the West there's no margin for error. You have to bring your a-game every night or else you'll be on the outside looking in. Teams will cannibalize each other in the West. A 40 win team in the West is easily a 50 win team with an Eastern Conference creampuff schedule. Just because teams like Dallas or Minnesota or the Lakers aren't le contenders doesn't mean the West is not stacked. They would easily be 3rd best in the East. When one side had that many quality teams and the other doesn't even have 1/3 as many, then that one side is most definitely "stacked".
The West is not 'stacked' the East is just a complete and utter disaster. The NBA is in a sorry state in general.
This has to be one of the worst years ever for the East, and that's saying something. the owners in the West should seriously think about having revenue sharing amongst the themselves, cut out the Eastern owners. Of course I'm sure they would like to share in that Russian billionaire money so perhaps not. Still the East is basically like urban ghettos living off welfare at this point.
the West will have some great playoff games while the Heat will have an escalator ride to the Finals while sticking PEDs in each others asses. Sucks but that's the way it is.
Also new CBA has helped out the West, Presti being forced to figure out something with Harden has helped out Houston while OKC is still compe ive. Meanwhile the East can't figure out .
The East is so bad that the Lakers would have a playoff position in the East![]()
