Activated carbon, ozone and UV treatments are generally better at removal than traditional chlorine treatment, but such techniques are often prohibitively expensive, Glassmeyer said.

“People resent having to pay anything for water,” she said. “There’s the thought that there’s a God-given right to have as much as we want but, if you want the cleanest water, these techniques take money.”

“People resent having to pay anything for water,”

    WTF?

Then why do people pay 10,000 times more for corporate bottled water than municipal tap water costs.

Bottled water is just a likely, if not more so, to contain pathogenic as municipal water.

Twenty-one contaminants were detected – mostly in low concentrations of parts per trillion – in treated drinking water from at least nine of the utilities. Eighteen of the chemicals are not regulated under the federal Safe Drinking Water Act so utilities do not have to meet any limit or even monitor for them.

“The good news is the concentrations are generally pretty low,” said Dana Kolpin, a research hydrologist with the USGS who participated in the study.

“But,” he added, “there’s still the unknown. Are there long-term consequences of low-level exposure to these chemicals?”
Interesting, but all things equal unlikely to have much effect on the vast majority of people.

    link? what "things equal"?

some of that is stored in the body for decades, esp in fat cells and organs(since the body has never seen this crap before), and when combined with other , it all becomes pathogenic, sooner or later.

But what about all the DHMO found in our water supply?

    Known facts about DHMO:

Death due to accidental inhalation of DHMO, even in small quan ies.

Prolonged exposure to solid DHMO causes severe tissue damage.

Excessive ingestion produces a number of unpleasant though not typically life-threatening side-effects.

DHMO is a major component of acid rain.

Gaseous DHMO can cause severe burns.

    Contributes to soil erosion.

Leads to corrosion and oxidation of many metals.

Contamination of electrical systems often causes short-circuits.

Exposure decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes.

Found in biopsies of pre-cancerous tumors and lesions.

Given to vicious dogs involved in recent deadly attacks.

Be aware of what comes out of your faucet people.

DHMO ain't no joke. That kills more people than you realize. It's probably the number 1 cause of death among children (accidental inhalation). It causes thousands of traffic deaths each year by being on the roads when people might not realize it (it can be slippery).

However, it's impossible make a horse drink it, so that should tell you something.

It's also tied to massive shifts in global climate patterns and was rumored to be the primary cause of the anic disaster. This stuff is deadly.

It's also suspect to have been the second shooter in the Kennedy assassination. DHMO is scary.
