"It wasn't as bad as I thought it was. A few turnovers and things like that. A lot of it was just mistiming. Made some pretty good reads, got my guys some pretty good looks," Kobe Bryant said of his season debut.(Wally Skalij / Los Angeles Times)

Kobe Bryant stayed up until 2 a.m. Monday, watching video of his season debut against Toronto.
His opinion of his game was lower than low after the Lakers lost Sunday to the Raptors, 106-94. He gave himself a failing grade.
He upgraded his game to a "D" while talking to reporters Monday afternoon.
"It wasn't as bad as I thought it was," Bryant said after a light practice Monday morning. "A few turnovers and things like that. A lot of it was just mistiming. Made some pretty good reads, got my guys some pretty good looks."
Bryant scored only nine points on two-for-nine shooting. He had eight turnovers and four assists in 28 minutes, his first action after an eight-month absence because of a torn Achilles' tendon.
He wasn't worried about disrupting team chemistry, the Lakers sitting with a better-than-expected 10-9 record before his return.
"Chemistry will be fine. It's not like we were gangbusters before," he said. "Guys know how to play. We'll be fine."
His game will need to be watered, Bryant said, comparing the next few weeks to an exhibition season.
"I've always had sucky preseasons. Always," he said. "It's just a matter of just kind of building your legs, finding your rhythm. Now there's a little bit more pressure obviously than in a preseason game. The crowd's a little bit more worried for me in between games to get ready."
Bryant averaged 27.3 points and six assists last season.

WTF u talkin bout lil niglet
why are you bashing your star player when literally two weeks ago you were letting him in your mouth?
Because of The $50 Mil Contract, tbh....
Truth, Kobe raped our chances once and for all at doing anything for the next few years. Now we are left begging for scraps from the Knicks.
Lakers going to to s up now. Kobe basically ting on their first 20 games by saying he's not concerned with disrupting chemistry, since they were doing so well anyhow. They were doing better than he was this time last year.
He's the best at building lasting trust amongst teammates and cultivating friendships.
Who would you rather have running the show..
Fredo or Jerry?
jerry buss?
LMAO, sorry.
Jones. (he knows about as much about basketball as he does football so it fits IMO)
LOL seriously is that even a question? Dr. Buss would have chosen Phil over D'antoni, and at this point would have never overpaid 2 talentless coaches like this. He would NOT have signed Kobe to this deal. He would have let Kobe go, because Dr. Buss is a G and knows Kobe will always be a Laker anyway in the eyes of his fans. This is the man that had the balls to let go of one of the greatest big men of all time for Lamar Odom, Caron Butler, and Whoopi Goldberg.
In hindsight, the Shaq trade doesn't look all that bad tbh. The Lakers weren't going to get past the Spurs or the Mavs from 05 - 07. However West's gift does make that Shaq trade look better.
I'm telling you man, my uncle who is one of those die hard old school Laker fans always told me the real MVP of the Lakers is Dr. Buss and when hes gone this train is gonna collapse for a while. He was right
agree, the shaq trade doesn't look too bad in hindsight. Although Caron Butler failed to shine in LA, he was traded to washington for Kwame Brown who would be later used to acquire Pau Gasol in February 08, which would add two more NBA championship banners to the Staples center, while Odom had always been a solid performer for this team throughout his tenure as a Laker, either as the #2 next to Kobe or as the 6th man off the bench. So it was like, the Lakers traded the last 3-4 good years of Shaq for a championship-caliber role player and an all-star big who played pivotal roles on both championship runs of 09 and 10.
keeping kobe over shaq was the right choice, kobe was younger. the main issue what that scenario is that it didn't have to be a "choose 1" scenario. they should have been able to keep both for years and won a couple of more chips, but kirby pissed shaq off once too many times
Dr. Buss was quite the poker player tbh. The fact that he wasn't willing to offer Shaq 20 mil/yr in his prime (wasn't he 31 before the 04 season?) says it all. Dude single handedly brought 3 championships to LA (In all honesty, it should've been 4 had Kobe not do his thing) but yet was on the losing end of the negotiations.
Truth tbh. Now he's up in that Big Vietnamese house in the sky and wondering why he didn't let Jeanie run the Family.
Son Shaq was done by the end of the 2006 season. Phx resorected him for like 30 games, but that was it.
Too much banging and way too many ice packs. Unlike Charles, he's lucky to even walk straight.
This guy ed the finest pussy ever till 86 years of age. I gotta give props to these women for taking an old like this and pretending they liked it

Kirby came back early to get in game shape for the Christmas game, tbh. He wants to look good against Lebron on national TV, it's his NBA Finals, since he'll never make it back there anyways.
Pretty sure Jerry told Fredo to hire Pringles because he wanted to "bring Showtime back"![]()
Lakerfans ain't admitting that, Jerry BUss was perfect.
