As if Fielder was effective against AL Central teams this year.
now the Rangers traded Gentry. Holy Daniels is ing re ed.
Joe Nathan 2 years 20 mil![]()
Choice is a native of Arlington - who went to both school and university there. Obviously he's well scouted, but it seems like a lateral move considering Gentry has become a pretty good ball player. Plus I hate trading within the division, unless its with the Angels![]()
Joe Nathan is a more than solid closer. Not sure why the Rangers let him go.
Gentry was one if the few players who didn't suck as the season started to wind down and began to show serious promise, then Daniels trades him for a marketing ploy. IMO he's valuing profit over compe iveness. Not that I can blame him; if I was in his shoes I'd do the same. As a fan though it sucks.
AJ and Salty both off the market? Who are they planning to get as catcher? Please don't tell me they want to have Soto as the everyday starter...
His asking price is pretty steep considering he's 39 years old and on the decline. I'm confident in Tanner Scheppers filling that gap at closer tbh
I fully agree that Gentry was a solid player and highly underrated. He should have been starting over Murphy pretty much all year.
But Choice seems to have some solid upside, so we will just have to see. Generally, JD has been money on his decisions. Let's at least give it a chance.
This. Plus either Ogando or Feliz will be back in the bullpen as well, so I'm not too concerned. And I expect Soria to have a really nice year.
His numbers were great in AAA, but so were Chris Davis'. I'd rather have the known commodity over the unknown. Haven't been happy with Daniels' decisions over the past few months so I expect this one to suck too.
yeah, bad example. I still think the past couple trades have been regressive tho tbh. We'll just have to wait and see what else is in the works.
He wasn't that great. I'm not bothered by him leaving. I felt worse when we let Uhara go. Man.........
Eh, Uehara was never gonna reach the levels he has with Boston by staying in Texas. Glad it worked out for him. Nathan ended up having nearly 40 saves and provided some consistency. It'll end up being a net gain if one of the younger guys steps up, but so far none of them have really shown they can.
Sure he would've. Look at his second half of the season stats. That dude was steppin' up. We should've held on to him.
Not as a closer tbh. He'd of been a 7/8th inning set-up man here behind Nathan (and Feliz before he got hurt). Boston had a hole at the Closer position and he jumped for it. Didn't help that it was the Red Sox.
Texas GM Daniels Daniels called free agent Nelson Cruz to thank him for his time in Texas.
Daniels expects Cruz to sign elsewhere. Rangers co-chairman Bob Simpson also said that the
club is over budget and thus unlikely to get involved the Masahiro Tanaka bidding.
If you think that the Rangers are playing hard to get with Cruz, they gave his Uniform number
to Choo. See you Nelson................
michael young retiring
Always liked Young. Thanks for sticking with the Rangers as long as you did.
He should have gotten a ring in 2011 and been a Ranger for life.
