we'd have to see how the picks pan out. we've seen lots of teams just blunder away tons of draft picks, so its hard to really make that sort of diagnosis. do we know anything about their FO's draft success?
What are people's thoughts or predictions on how good they will be in 2-5 years?
They're picking up good draft picks, IIRC, from the Nyets. I think that coach Brad Stevens could be very good, just a hunch. Plus I don't consider Ainge a slouch either.

that's a good point, i'm too tired to look that up now. I can only imagine though what a powerhouse the Spurs would be if in their position.
the last time the spurs ended up with a lottery pick was when we traded up for kawhi, and that's worked out pretty well considering it was thought to be a weak, shallow draft![]()
I think Ainge doesn't want to go through a quick fix again; having KG and Ray join Pierce propulsed them to the le immedialtely, but they were already aging players (an argument can be made that they got fleeced by the refs in 2010 and 2011, so could have won 2 other les with that big 3)
He is building through the draft and hired a young NCAA coach who knows how to work with those rookies.
Ainge probably looked at what Larry and the Pacers have done in Indiana, so it's not just drafting good players, it's also about drafting hard working kids; just look at how Paul George and Hibbert have panned out; Bird said that those kids were very motivated players when the Pacers drafted them.
Good thread, by the way
they're tanking for picks (though the rest rest of the Atlantic division are doing their best to screw boston's tanking job) and piling up on young talents just like they did prior to 07 imho. Only difference is they don't have no legit superstar now to sell tickets or to rebuild the team around. They have to count on luck to bring themselves a great player from the draft (like Pierce) because it's unlikely for them to acquire one through trades, let alone getting three.
If Rondo stays, and their picks work out, I could see them being at the top of the East in 2-3 years.
looking back on that draft, there was kyrie, we got kawhi, the Morris twins were in it, Parsons was a second rounder, and isaiah thomas was the last pick. definitely a decent little draft. no big stars though, unless you count Kyrie, which I kinda dont.
.
You've got what,,,maybe a handful of players at the extreme level...and you've got 30 teams chasing that handful of players. Now how in the is Boston going to get up off the ground? Ask a ing question like this, HI. Asshole
You're a got
missed you, cubby <3
How bout them Lakers? Do you think Kirby's 24 mil cap hold for the next 2 years will get you any big time players?
Melo pls
They'll probably suck balls for another 20 years
Who am I going to get? I ain't getting James and he's no panacea. And Melo is a pile a . He's like Cano.
We're ed. Not because of Bryant's 24 million X 2, but, because we short sheeted Odom's bed on the short term and Cuban made the rounds and told on us in the infinite term. Now we're in the same line with the rest of you assholes chasing players who are utter garbage.
Chickens have come home to roost. My salvation, my deliverance rests in the fact that there are 28 other assholes in the same line with me.
At least we'll be contending for the Finals while you're struggling to make the playoffs. You should be tanking and hoping they gift you Wiggins/Parker/Randle.
As long as you don't win it I can live with it. I got my 5.
Keeping the faith with these assholes coming up is a fool's parade. The process, the protocol is topsy turvy and we're seeing the decline as we speak. The reality of [symbolism over substance] is rearing it's ugly, vulgar head and not just one us but all of us will suffer terribly.
Fortunately I won't be one of the 28.

You have the same assholes failing that you've had for years. You can't get there with what you have. Just like the Clippers can't. Wake up and smell the coffee, t.
Love always,

18-4 my man. We got this!
Good call OP. They're getting swept for sure, but they have an enviable future no doubt
Brad Stevens may be the best coach in the game. But talent still wins at the end of the day. Celts landing the number one overall pick ups the ante on what they can do.
Explain. Upping the ante just means there's a bigger risk if they fail. How does that happen because they have the 1st overall pick?
