Nice (but brief) discussion with SI Senior Writer Chris Mannix appreciating Duncan and his place in history.
I never was a fan but he did give us these 2 GREAT moments.
Stop the Lakers from 16-0
Allen Iverson crosses Jordan.
if not getting swept is one of your top 2 accomplishments, then you are not one of the best players in any era
Well to be fair that Lakers team was unstoppable and they SWEPT the Spurs
i wont dispute that. they had a great alpha and a great beta
AI is a top player of the post-MJ era, easily.
Are we talkin' 'bout PRACTICE???![]()
AI is my favourite player ever but I wouldn't be able to keep a straight face if I asked a guy to name the best player post Jordan and he said: "Allen Iverson has to be up there".![]()
AI was a phenom, plain and simple. People casually dismiss him in these discussions because of his at ude later in his career, and the fact that he became a chucker instead of just a volume shooter, but Iverson was a one man wrecking crew. A lot of people seem to think he was a point guard but he wasn't. He just had better handles than almost anyone you've ever seen.
All that AI vs Lakers video showed me was just how much O'Neal carried that Laker's team.
Iverson was a great player at his peak for sure but not in the post Jordan discussion obviously.
Best players post-Jordan, pre-Lebron (1998-2008):
1. Duncan
2. Shaq
3. Bryant
4a. Nowitzki
4b. Garnett
5. Nash
6. Iverson
7. Kidd
I will be curious to see what idiot voters won't put AI in the hall on the first ballot..
Wade has a case to be included in there and potentially over Iverson. With that being said I hate the talk of AI possibly not being a HOFer. Dude should be first ballot no questions asked
Oops, forgot Wade. Agree
